- HIGH GAS PRICESWe can all agree that gas prices are ridiculous, but let’s watch where we put the blame. It’s not ever the president. This video explaining why gas prices are high was made in 2022. Inflation is no longer at 8% and while gas prices are no longer over $5.00 gallon, they are still high. This is clearly a bipartisan issue. Let’s ask our MoCs to support and co-sponsor the Big Oil Windfall Profits Tax Act (S.408/H.R. 1014)
- PROTECT HEALTH WORKERSRespiratory diseases spread mainly through tiny airborne particles that are expelled by someone who is sick and then inhaled by others, according to a World Health Organization report. Evidence that we’ve had for a long time supports this infection model. However, guidance from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention—CDC—still focuses on ill-defined categories. National Nurses United is calling for the CDC to create guidelines that protect health workers against airborne particles. Let’s support them by signing their online petition.
- THE PERFECT GIFT FOR GRADUATESAs the season of high school and college graduation arrives, many of us may be looking for the perfect gift. How about a heartfelt invitation to register to vote? From paychecks to housing to gun safety to the environment and so, so much more, government policy and implementation will affect every aspect of our grads’ lives. Their votes for caring leaders will matter. Let’s use resources like this or this or this to find and print out a mail-in voter registration form (or to find a link for online voter registration), and enclose it with a card to our beloved graduate with our warm, personal message about why voting matters to us and our wish that they will join us in uplifting our communities and country with their votes.
- CHANGE THE INSURRECTION ACT TO PREVENT TRUMP FROM USING THE MILITARY FOR HIS OWN PURPOSESWith Trump’s latest statements about what he’d do if he won the election, and past promises to use the military to achieve his agenda, it is crucial for Congress to amend the Insurrection Act, now! A group of legal experts and bipartisan members of Congress are calling for changes in this law, which dates to 1790, but Congress has not yet moved on it yet.
