Help Us Flip the Court
This week, the Arizona Supreme Court upheld a near-total abortion ban, one that predates Arizona’s own statehood. This is another example of extreme GOP politicians all over the country working for years to undermine our fundamental rights and freedoms.
We’re confident Arizona will follow in Ohio’s footsteps and protect women’s rights this November, but that doesn’t stop the scourge of Republican politicians across the country working to strip away these fundamental rights, including GOP nominee for Ohio Senate, Bernie Moreno.
Arizona’s decision is a reminder that state laws and state constitutions are ultimately interpreted by State Supreme Courts. In November, three Ohio Supreme Court seats will be on the ballot – Supreme Court Justices Michael Donnelly and Melody Stewart and Judge Lisa Forbes. It’s critical that we elect them to the Supreme Court.
And there’s even more on the line with the fight for redistricting reform this year.

Obama gets it.
He Sits on a Throne of Lies
Over the course of his two Senate primary campaigns, now GOP nominee Bernie Moreno has touted his refusal to sell foreign cars, specifically the Buick Envision made in China by GM. This is a story he has repeated from campaign stop to campaign stop.
However, it’s been shown that Moreno’s dealership in fact sold numerous Buick Envisions as well as promoted the vehicle from 2014-2019, all while Moreno owned the dealership.

Moreno said he refused to sell the Buick Envision because he “stands on principle.” Seems to me like he actually sits on a throne of lies.
If there’s one thing you can trust Bernie Moreno to do, it’s lie again…and again…and again…

Sherrod Brown Gets it Done
Meanwhile, Sherrod has continued to get sh*t done for Ohioans. A big thanks to our Senator for always showing up for us! Check out some of his recent work below:

Also, the Senator enjoyed the eclipse from Cleveland with NASA Administrator Bill Nelson and Snoopy!

We cannot afford to sit idly by
First: Republicans banned abortion in Ohio, passing and enacting a draconian six-week abortion ban that went into effect after the Supreme Court overturned Roe.
Then: We fought back and passed an amendment to our state constitution protecting reproductive healthcare last November.
Now — with Republicans trying to overturn the will of the voters, and reproductive rights under attack all over the country — we have to elect leaders who will fight to safeguard our right to make our own medical decisions.
17 years versus 17 minutes
Did you know that Joseph Deters is the first person in 30 years to join the Ohio Supreme Court without any prior judicial experience? He was appointed by Governor Mike DeWine who said “I know him. I trust him.” That’s not the vote of confidence we’re looking for considering that Deters’ and DeWine’s families hold close political ties…
Oh yeah, and then there’s the fact that when DeWine took a trip to Super Bowl LVI in 2022 and made Ohio taxpayers foot the bill for the state troopers’ flights, hotels, meals, and vehicles, Deters ruled that those records could be withheld from the public. Another classic case of the GOP taking care of its own at the expense of Ohioans.
We’ll leave you with this quote from Justice Stewart herself:
“Justice Deters decided not to run for the seat he was handed, I’m sorry, he was appointed to by the governor… I’ve been a jurist for 17 years. My opponent has been a jurist for 17 minutes.”
Who would you rather have on the Court? A justice with no prior experience that is personal pals with our governor who has repeatedly only looked out for his Republican allies? Or an experienced justice committed to putting people over politics?
Could Ohio be a purple state?
After the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, Ohioans responded by thwarting a misleading ballot initiative brought forward by our state’s out-of-touch Republicans that would’ve made it harder to pass Issue 1. Then, we overwhelmingly voted to pass Issue 1 and protect abortion rights in our state constitution.
For years, political pundits have labeled Ohio a Republican state. But now, they see the tide is changing. A recent Associated Press article asks the question: Could Ohio be a purple state?
Last year was proof that if we focus on the issues that we know matter most to Ohioans, we can win.
We have to make sure that voters in every corner of Ohio know that Democrats in our state support abortion access for all women. Republicans don’t. And they’re ready to do everything in their power to rip away the rights we voted to protect.
