As Women’s History Month draws to a close, we are ablaze on the Friday Power Lunch as we discuss one of our favorite topics building community, as one of the core values of the grassroots.  Join us to get on fire too!

Have a great weekend.

Onward,

CALLS TO ACTION

The battle over K-12 public education funding in Virginia continues! 4 Public education wholeheartedly supports the K-12 education budget offered in HB30, and invites advocates for public education to convince the Governor to prioritize public education. Please take these easy-to-do calls to action:

Call Congress For Ukraine

Thank our 6 Dem House Members for signing the H Res 1016 Discharge Petition to support the Senate Aid Bill. If you live in a red district please ask your member EVERY WEEKDAY – especially Kiggans (VA-2) and Wittman (VA-1)

Campaign Finance Call to Action:

Did you know that all campaign finance bills died in this Virginia General Assembly, some without being heard or voted on? Send an email to your legislators and say “this is not okay”. Virginia is ranked 46 out of 50 in the 2020 Coalition for Integrity’s SWAMP Index and we, the People, ask for good governance reform. Click here to contact your Virginia Delegate and Senator. Community Ignites Us

Friday Power Lunch – March 28, Noon ET

Ellen CassedyActivist and author of Working 9 to 5: A Women’s Movement, a Labor Union, and the Iconic Movie) will talk about how in 1973 women won rights and respect at the office and changed workplaces throughout America. She will reflect on how their lessons learned can help our work today.

There are many postcard programs, but none has received more positive feedback than NE Arizona Native Democrats. Jennifer Stokely Eis, Out-of-State Director, NEAZ Native Democrats, and Elizabeth Reingold, Leadership Team, Markers for Democracy, who will share how this program lives its Democratic values year-round and focuses on building a community of voters instead of promoting campaigns or candidates.

Judy Kincaid, North Carolina Activist and Founder of Leaflet Every Door, will share why she started a program to hand out leaflets to revitalize her local precinct and connect with voters regularly, not just around elections. The leaflet messaging explained Democrats’ good policies and accomplishments. The program builds the Democratic brand, engages volunteers in an activity they enjoy, and builds community.
