Republicans restrict PornHub: Follow the hypocrisy!

“Pornhub shuts down in Texas”
“Pornhub has disabled its site in Texas in response to the state’s online age verification law. The site now displays a message to users in the state that says having to provide an ID when accessing an adult website “is not an effective solution for protecting users online.” — The Verge
MAGA religious extremists banned abortions. Removed exceptions for rape or incest. Banned abortion pills. Banned IVF. Now pornography. What’s next? Meet some of the Republican paragons of virtue behind the pornography ban and their histories.

Kevin Roberts
“Pornography should be outlawed. The people who produce and distribute it should be imprisoned. Librarians who purvey it should be classed as registered sex offenders. And telecommunications and technology firms that facilitate its spread should be shuttered.” — Heritage Foundation President Kevin Roberts in “How Project 2025 Will Ruin Your Life”

Tommy Tuberville
In Alabama, where the conservative Supreme Court banned IVF, Senator Tuberville blockaded military promotions over abortion policy. He demanded the Armed services “relent on offering time off and travel reimbursement to service members who need to go out of state for abortions.” — NY Times

Clarence Thomas
“Ms. Hill said that Thomas had repeatedly asked her to go out with him in a social capacity … he would talk about sex in vivid detail, describing pornography he had seen involving women with large breasts, women having sex with animals, group sex and rape scenes.” — NY Times

Texas Republicans sue PornHub
Texas enacted a previously blocked age verification law (HB 1181) that requires users to upload photos of their government IDs before accessing a pornographic website. The law also requires porn sites to display health warnings that claim porn impairs “human brain development,” among other unproven issues. Texas sued Pornhub’s parent company Aylo in February, alleging that Pornhub failed to comply with the new law.

Christo-fascist Republicans
Florida school that banned images of Michelangelo’s David. Parents thought it was porn. Actions like theirs provide insight into where far-right Christo-fascist Republicans will take our country if they win in November. But we don’t need to speculate about what they will do to pornographers. Here’s what Project 2025 says about pornography. Very early. On PAGE 5:
“Pornography should be outlawed. The people who produce and distribute it should be imprisoned. Educators and public librarians who purvey it should be classed as registered sex offenders. And telecommunications and technology firms that facilitate its spread should be shuttered.”
Understand the MAGA Project 2025 plan
For over 50 years, liberals have refused to do the work necessary to understand far-right language. They hear Christian Nationalists and the Moms for Liberty crowd screeching about porn, and they think a Republican administration will come after their PornHub. While that would suck for those who like PornHub, most Americans shrug and say, “So what? I’m not really into porn, so this won’t impact my life.”
WRONG. Because Andra Watkins grew up in a Christian Nationalist church and school, she speaks fluent far-right Evangelicalese. Here’s a sample of items the authors of Project 2025 would consider pornography:
- Artworks featuring nudity, partial nudity, suggestions of sex, allusions to homosexuality, or other erotic depictions of the female form
- Books featuring physical contact of any kind other than between one man and one woman who are married
- Homosexuality
- Transgenderism
- Films featuring nudity, partial nudity, suggestions of sex, allusions to homosexuality, or other erotic depictions of the female form
- Music with explicit lyrics, foul language, sexual situations, erotic sounds, or anything else that makes someone think about sex
- Images of scantily clad women or women wearing clothing that outlines their bodies
- Live performances that glorify homosexuality, transgenderism, sexual contact outside of marriage between one man and one woman, nudity, partial nudity, single motherhood, the questioning of faith (which they call “The Truth”), and taking their One True God’s name in vain
- Any publication, artwork, book, film, image, song, performance or website that features content that might make a man like House Speaker Mike Johnson think about sex
