Friends,
The Ohio Scoop is your political fix, filled with the most up-to-date information about Ohio Democrats and everything happening on the campaign trail here in Ohio. We’re here so you can get your political scoop, all in one place.
If you’re new to the list, welcome. You were added because you are one of Ohio Democrats’ best supporters. For those of you who are returning, welcome back.
We need to fill you in on everything that happened, so let’s jump right in.
Vote! Your Rights Depend on it
Early voting has started for Ohio’s primary election and we are 18 days away from Election Day!
As a reminder, photo ID is now required to vote in person. For all of your questions and to make a plan to vote early, visit our website!
Speaking of voting, did y’all see the news? Voter registration among 18-year olds has increased by 35% since August.

Young people are showing us that they are ready for change!
Here it Goes Again
Following the Alabama Supreme Court’s alarming ruling on IVF, Republicans all over the country are facing the consequences of their actions after they spent decades attacking reproductive freedoms.
As it turns out, IVF is wildly popular, which we already knew because 57% of Ohio voters guaranteed rights to fertility treatments last November. Yet, Republicans can’t stop trying to ban abortion and attack women, despite resounding losses nationwide and here in Ohio.
However, we feel it’s important we remind people that Moreno, Dolan and LaRose have made it clear where they stand on this issue. All three voted against protections for IVF by opposing November’s Issue 1, which clearly included protections for fertility treatments.

Ohio Republicans’ ongoing war on women continues.
Ohio GOP in Shambles
Let’s turn our sights on the State Legislature where things are surely running smoothly.

Or not!
Despite having the supermajority in both chambers, Statehouse Republicans can’t put their infighting aside and work together to pass a bill that would benefit Ohioans.

Democrats across the state have been working hard to secure funding for numerous community projects. Unwilling to work together, the House and Senate have passed separate spending bills that the other chamber is choosing to ignore.
House Speaker Jason Stephens and Senate President Matt Huffman are clearly playing a political game. The root problem at this ego clash? It’s rumored that Huffman will challenge Stephens for Speaker of the House next January.
UGH! We are begging the GOP to do their job and work for the people of Ohio and not their petty feelings. It has never been more clear that we need to break the supermajority in the State Legislature. Join us in our work today and send a clear message to Republicans.

Until Next Time
2023 was a monumental and hopeful chapter of Ohio’s story that deserves much celebration. But it’s time to turn our focus to 2024. Redistricting and wage are on the line. Control of the U.S. Senate and U.S. House will undoubtedly run through Ohio in 2024. Ohio will also be the only state in the nation with an opportunity to gain control of the state Supreme Court. With two statewide wins under our belt, Ohio Dems are ready to win – again. Consider chipping in to help us win in 2024 and beyond!
If you’re unsure about how much more you can contribute, simply reply to this email. We’d be happy to help.
As always, thank you for standing with us. I am immensely grateful for your partnership.
Onward,
Emily Feltz
