Welcome to February 2024, which will have 29 days this year.

Friday is Groundhog Day, a weather lore tradition that gained contemporary prominence with the 1993 classic movie with Bill Murray. Join us on the Friday Power Lunch as we discuss breaking out of the election time warp and focusing on what we learned in 2022 and 2023 to zero in on winning in 2024!

Calls to Action and Campaign actions for our Virginia crew can be found below. An important meeting with the Legislative Working Group will be this evening February 1st at 5pm to discuss strategy for the General Assembly Session, Calls to Action, and Testimony. Friday Power Lunch

HERE WE GO AGAIN  “Polls, Shmolls and Voter Rolls”  Season 4 – Episode 5
 – 2/2/24

In politics and life, some things are great when we do them again, and sometimes, we need a fresh perspective or a different approach. Just like in the movie Groundhog Day, Bill Murray kept repeating the day over and over until he figured what he needed to really change.

Join our guests this week as we discuss the coolest and freshest strategies for 2024:

  • Congresswoman Jennifer McClellan  – will help us kick off Black History Month with stories of Jim Crow & Voting Rights.
  • Tom Bonier (Senior adviser at Target Smart and CEO of the Tara Group) will use the actual voting data to explain what happened in the 2023 Virginia election. He will compare the 2023 data to past elections to help us understand early voting, where we gained votes, where we lost them, and where we need to focus our attention to increase turnout in 2024. He will speak about the challenges associated with today’s polling and how to deal with that current reality.
  • Matt Caffrey (Senior Director, Grassroots Community Organizing at Swing Left – helping grassroots activists organize since 2017) will tell us about their 2024 Super State Strategy and their new Team Up program to nurture, train and support new grassroots leaders.
  • Pete Kronowitt (Activist singer, songwriter) will tell us about a new music project using a song called BE COOL to harness the power of young people to save the planet.p program to nurture, train and support new grassroots leaders.

Help GOTV NOW for Special Elections in Pennsylvania HD 140 – 02/13/24

Democratic control of the PA House of Representatives depends on winning this race. Jim Prokopiak is the Democratic candidate to replace former Dem. Representative John Galloway.

The Republican candidate is Candace Cabanas. The Jan. 3rd Daily Kos Elections Morning Digest states: “Joe Biden carried this seat in the Philadelphia suburbs by a 55-44 margin. Even if this is a Blue district we all know that special elections depend on turnout and this race is too important to be taken for granted. The last thing we want is a solid Republican legislature in PA any presidential election year and particularly this one.

PROMOTE THE VOTE, an affiliate of TURN PA BLUE has phone banks for this race.
