Dr. Elizabeth Dudash-Buskirk – Nixa School Board, Missouri

Tell us a little bit about yourself and your background.

As a tenured associate professor at Missouri State University with a PhD in rhetoric, I have extensive knowledge and experience in sociological implications and processes regarding politics. I strongly believe in the benefits of a public education, proudly support intellectual freedom and admonish attempts at privatizing public education. I have worked diligently with others to create grassroots efforts to positively impact my community and leave a lasting positive legacy to the children of our community.

What are the 3 biggest issues facing your community?

1. Attrition of teachers
2. Decrease in district excellence of student performance
3. Movement against public education toward private education

How do you propose to solve those problems?

1. Increase teacher pay and provide eternal support systems
2. Refocus on diverse experiences in education
3. Explain the economic impacts of moving from public to private schools

What is your stance on environmental and climate concerns that are facing your community?

I believe that it is vitally important to improve environmental factors and climate concerns so the next generation has a community and world in which to flourish.

What common sense gun safety measures would have the most impact on your community?

Require background checks, close the loopholes, and increase safety training for members of the public.

How would criminal justice reforms impact your community?

Our local police station is too small. We need more community service programs with better oversight, reduced overcrowding in our county jails, and increased preventative measures as opposed to punitive measures.

How would you work to protect a woman’s reproductive health?

The health care decisions of girls and women should be between them and their doctors. Health education and access to support services would benefit society as a whole.

What measures would you advocate to ensure that your constituents have the right to vote?

Elimination of barriers to voter registration and better access to polling places.
