24 shootings. 33 Americans killed in one day! Vote to END GUN VIOLENCE MADNESS.

24 shootings on Oct 25th 2023 killed 33 people and injured 66 more.

Gun violence incidents are on the rise. In 2021, nearly 21,000 people were killed by firearms (not including suicides), according to the Gun Violence Archive, an online database of U.S. gun violence incidents. That’s a 33 percent increase from 2017, the year that firearm-related injuries usurped motor vehicle crashes as the most common cause of death among children and adolescents.

Mass shooting in Lewiston, Maine

“Maine Medical is on lockdown right now awaiting Lewiston patients,” the nurse said. “They just called for [emergency department] nurses and critical care nurses to come in, set up three stretchers to each single critical care bay.” A suspect is not yet in custody and an active manhunt is underway. Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Office shared a photo of the alleged gunman  on Facebook  Wednesday evening, asking for identification help via messenger or email.” –  ABC News

Virginia Republicans blog gun safety bills

Republicans  proposed  legislation in  2022  and  2023  that would have loosened concealed handgun rules. Virginia Republicans would immediately dismantle existing gun laws should they keep the House majority in November and regain a majority in the Senate.

“If Youngkin got free rein and both houses and the governorship were Republican, we would see repeal across the board, and not only repeal of the things we gained, but taking us probably further back than we were before we had those gains.” – Andrew Goddard, who tracks bills in his role as legislative director of the Virginia Center for Public Safety. Goddard  began advocating  for gun safety after his son too was injured in the Virginia Tech shootings. –  AJN
