Friday Power Lunch

Strategies to Wage and Win – The Electoral Battle

September 29, Noon

Tomorrow on the Friday Power Lunch we will focus on strategies to win this election.

Rachel Bitecofer, political scientist and author, will talk to us about her new book, Hit ‘Em Where it Hurts, a deep dive into Republicans’ own playbook and how Democrats can turn the far right’s tactics against Republicans. Rachel argues that the way for Democrats to win over voters is to present themselves as “brand ambassadors for freedom, health, wealth, safety, and common sense.” This is the polar opposite of extremist, anger-filled rhetoric of the far right.

We will also spotlight the Power Pack from SD17 which consists of Suffolk City, Isle of Wight County and parts of Portsmouth City, Brunswick County and Chesapeake. According to the Virginia Public Access Project (VPAP), the district profile is 50.35% white and 41.1 % Black. We will be joined by Democratic candidates running for these seats: Clint Jenkins (SD17), Nadarius Clark (HD84), Mary Person (HD83), and Karen Jenkins (HD89).
