Friends,

The Ohio Scoop is your weekly political fix, filled with the most up-to-date information about Ohio Democrats and everything happening on the campaign trail here in Ohio. We’re here so you can get your political scoop, all in one place.

If you’re new to the list, welcome. You were added because you are one of Ohio Democrats’ best supporters. For those of you who are returning, welcome back.

We need to fill you in on everything that happened this week, so let’s jump right in.

ABORTION IS ON THE BALLOT

After turning in over 700,000 signatures to the Secretary of State on July 5th, it was announced this week that Ohioans will vote on Abortion in November of 2023. THANK YOU to every person who knocked on doors, made calls, or donated to help the cause. Thanks to this network, Ohioans will get a chance to enshrine abortion rights in the Ohio constitution. We could not have made it here without all of you.

BUT – Issue 1 directly impacts the future of the reproductive rights ballot amendment. The Republicans in the statehouse have shown they will stop at nothing to silence Ohioans, including instituting a primary election that four bi-partisan Ohio Governors disagree with.

We are less than two weeks away from the August 8th election when Ohioans must vote NO on Issue 1 and send a clear message to the GOP: We Won’t Go Back.

Consider a donation to Ohio Democrats today to fund the Get Out the Vote effort for August 8th and protect reproductive rights in November.

Keep reading below for additional ways you can get involved and help us bring home the win in 11 days!

Knock Knock…

Who’s there???

Hundreds of Ohio volunteers asking you to make a plan to vote NO on Issue 1 on or before August 8th!

Ohio Democrats and our volunteers across the state are still working around the clock to protect constitutional rights and secure reproductive rights. So far, our volunteer base has knocked over 125,000 doors and made over 400,000 calls!

Ohioans have already begun early voting, but we still need to make sure everyone makes a plan and votes NO on or before August 8th.

Please come out and talk to voters with us! You can find your closest canvass or a phone bank here.

Frank LaRose Messy Hour

In this week’s GOP senate primary, Fraudulent Frank LaRose decided it was the best time to endorse Donald Trump for President. 11 days out from a primary election.

As our state’s chief election official, you’d think he’d be in Ohio making sure that Boards of Election have the correct information to carry out the primary he made happen. But no. Instead, he’s wasting his time endorsing Donald Trump for President and raising money for his Senate campaign.

When Frank is in the state, he is busy campaigning for a ballot amendment designed to benefit special interests and silence the voices of Ohioans he’s supposed to be working for, telling rooms of Republicans that Issue 1 is “100%” about abortion, and running an ethically ambiguous Senate campaign. Good on you, Frank. This isn’t the type of guy we want representing us in the U.S. Senate.

Until Next Time

Ohio Democrats are working hard gearing up to re-elect Senator Sherrod Brown in 2024. Please consider contributing as much as you can to help Ohio Democrats turn out as many of our voters as we can to vote NO on Issue 1 in August.

If you’re unsure about how much more you can contribute, simply reply to this email. We’d be happy to help.

As always, thank you for standing with us. I am immensely grateful for your partnership.

Onward,

Emily Feltz
