From the Chair’s Desk

Democrats,

I can feel the momentum in our state swinging. Our staff is working around the clock to make sure voters hear from us, and we are amplifying our elected officials while contrasting them with what 20 years of Republican party rule has brought us. Our Communications team is running an aggressive campaign to ensure that we are in the press and receiving coverage. We have put out a few toolkits for our DEC, Clubs, and Caucuses to use, complete with graphics and sample posts in English and Spanish. Thank you to everyone amplifying our message. Our annual Leadership Blue weekend was a huge success, raising over $500,000, with over 1,000 party leaders and activists in attendance. The sold-out Leadership Blue gala, attended by 750 guests, opened with a fiery launch video revealing a new brand for Florida Democrats, reclaiming the red, white, and blue with a fresh look and feel for the party. This year’s Leadership Blue weekend felt different; Democrats have a renewed vision, inspired energy, and a passion that resonates beyond the walls of the gala room. Click here to view a recap video about Leadership Blue. In keeping with a promise to reinvest in the party structure, I created a grant program where our state caucuses and DECs can request funds from FDP to help register voters and sign them up for VBM. We also awarded five bonus grants during Leadership Blue weekend to organizations that submitted by the first review deadline. I am excited to share that the Gilchrist DEC, St. Johns DEC, Santa Rosa DEC, Democratic Women’s Club, and Collier DEC were the recipients of the $1,000 bonus grants. Let’s keep our momentum going by registering voters and talking to them about the issues that are important at the door. Together, we can turn this state Blue!

Forward,

Nikki Fried

FDP Voter Registration Guidance

Effective July 1, 2023, SB 7050 makes a number of changes to Florida Voter Registration laws. As of July 1, all DECs, Clubs, Caucuses, and affiliated organizations must stop using FDP’s 3P number. No volunteers or party leaders are currently authorized to be agents of the FDP 3P number, and this authorization will not be extended to volunteers. To continue registering voters, FDP recommends use of electronic devices to register voters through the online application – which requires no receipt, protects volunteers from penalties of missing the deadline, and no applicant information is retained. If a DEC, Club, or Caucus continues to operate with a 3P, they must register for their own number with the state Division of Elections. Please review the full guidance at the link below, and contact partyaffairs@floridadems.org with any questions.

Florida Democrats believe in effective and efficient government that prioritizes quality education, affordable health care, and an economy in which anyone who works hard can succeed.

Most importantly, we believe that we are stronger together. We believe the fundamental American promise — that you can go as far as your own hard work will take you — should shine brightest in Florida.

That is why we champion the middle class and cherish the principle that all Floridians should have the opportunity to work hard and succeed. That is why we will never stop fighting for better public schools, because education is the surest path to a better life for millions.

From standing for affordable health care and better schools to fighting for civil rights and access to the ballot box, Florida Democrats are leading every day to move our state forward.
