David Pepper, best-selling author, former local elected official, and former chair of the Ohio Democratic Party, will speak about his new book, Saving Democracy: A User Manual for Every American. David’s 2021 book, Laboratories of Autocracy, was hailed by the Wall Street Journal as “one of the most important books on democracy in American politics.” His new book is a how-to manual for recognizing and acting on the threats to Democracy in your own backyard.
Harmony Labs Science Director, Riki Conrey will be up next. Harmony Labs is a media research lab, using science, data, and creativity to research and reshape our relationship with media. Riki will explain how they use media data to understand how and where democratic values reach people. In short, Harmony Labs helps us understand how to relate better to different audiences through the stories we tell to produce real change.
