Friends,
The Ohio Scoop is your weekly political fix, filled with the most up-to-date information about Ohio Democrats and everything happening on the campaign trail here in Ohio. We’re here so you can get your political scoop, all in one place.
If you’re new to the list, welcome. You were added because you are one of Ohio Democrats’ best supporters. For those of you who are returning, welcome back.
We need to fill you in on everything that happened this week, so let’s jump right in.
The Big Scoop
Because our Ohio Democrats Drinks with Dems event in Cincinnati last month was such a success, we are continuing the series with an event in Dayton, OH on Thursday, June 29th.
We would love for you to join us for a casual cocktail hour to mingle with local Democrats and get fired up about the August 8th Special Election.

Funds raised at the event will help us turn out Democrats to vote “NO” on Issue 1 on August 8th. For questions, please reach out to drinks@ohiodems.org.
The Big Scoop
As we draw closer to the July 5th signature deadline, tens of thousands of petitions are flowing into Ohio Democrats HQ.
80,000 signatures have come through our door and MORE are on their way. Check in next week to see the grand total.
Whipped Warnings
As we’re all aware, Republicans fast-tracked State Issue 1 specifically to foil an expected November ballot measure that would add legal protections for abortion to the state constitution.

In the wise words of State Senator Bill DeMora…
August 8th is drawing closer and Ohio Democrats and our partners across the state are organizing to turn out Democrats to vote NO in August. Check out all of the literature that arrived at Ohio Dems Headquarters this week.

This lit will be distributed to county parties all over the state where it will be used to knock 500,000 doors. We’re fired up and ready to go. Find out how YOU can join us in the fight.
The first step is to check your voter registration status and make note of these important dates below:

Next,
Become a canvassing volunteer lead! If you are willing to consistently knock doors two shifts a week and train volunteers to knock doors that attend your shifts, go ahead and sign up for a Volunteer Leadership Training! You only need to attend one training to get started.
Can’t commit to hosting two canvassing shifts per week but still want to knock doors? Sign up on the canvassing interest form! A volunteer leader from your area will reach out shortly to get you plugged into their canvassing efforts.
Unable to canvas and would rather call voters to get out the word about the August special election? Sign up for one of our phonebanks! After attending a training you will be ready to make calls at any time that fits your schedule.
Thank you to the hundreds of volunteers that have dedicated their time to the fight. We truly cannot do this work without YOU. Please join us in the fight for our rights. Talk to your families, your friends, and neighbors about the August 8th election, and encourage them to vote NO on Issue 1.
Sprinkle on Some Fun
What do you get when you mix hundreds of Democrats, good food, drinks, and speakers? A rip-roaring good time!

In case we weren’t all busy enough with the fight to protect reproductive rights and all of our other constitutional rights, Ohio Democrats are looking forward to gathering for our second annual Family Reunion on Saturday, July 15th.
We hope you will join us for an afternoon of togetherness and to rally folks up to go vote NO on August 8th.
Tickets are ON SALE NOW. Buy your ticket today and be sure to invite your friends and family to join you.
Flavor of the Week
This week we asked the Mayor of Cincinnati, Aftab Pureval, his favorite local ice cream maker and flavor. Check out his answer below:
You can learn more about our fantastic Cincinnati Mayor here. And be sure to catch Mayor Pureval at this year’s Ohio Democrats Family Reunion.

Until Next Time
Ohio Democrats are working hard gearing up to re-elect Senator Sherrod Brown in 2024. Please consider contributing as much as you can to help Ohio Democrats turn out as many of our voters as we can to vote NO on Issue 1 in August.
If you’re unsure about how much more you can contribute, simply reply to this email. We’d be happy to help.
As always, thank you for standing with us. I am immensely grateful for your partnership.
