Ohio Senate Race is a TOSS-UP

The Cook Political Report and Sabato’s Crystal Ball just released their initial race ratings for 2024’s Senate races, and they both agree Ohio’s Senate race is a “TOSS-UP.”

Ohio will determine who controls the Senate– and that means Republicans will spend whatever it takes to defeat Sherrod Brown. Help us do our part to win this “toss-up” race, protect Sherrod Brown’s Senate seat, and defend the Democratic Senate majority.

President Joey B Says Hello

Newly sworn in Congressman Greg Landsman visited the White House this week. In true Joe Biden fashion, he gave a heartwarming hello to Congressman Landsman’s kids over FaceTime. Check out the adorable video below!

The Best Delegation in the Nation!

This week the Ohio Delegation gathered together for a group photo. Look at all of these Ohio Democrats fighting for our rights in Congress! We love to see it.

Bribery & Corruption & the FBI. Oh[io] My!

This week, the criminal trial for the largest public corruption scandal in Ohio history began in federal court.

While Larry Householder and Matt Borges are the ones on trial, this scandal runs much deeper in the Ohio Republican Party.

Check out Chair Walters’ op-ed for Cincinnati.com that highlights connections between the scandal and some GOP politicians who have higher political ambitions come 2024.

BOSS of the Week

In last week’s edition of The Ohio Scoop, we warned you about Ohio and national Republican efforts to attack Senator Sherrod Brown early and often in an attempt to win what will be the #1 U.S. Senate race in 2024.

Fear not, friends. On Monday, Senator Brown announced Rachel Petri as his new campaign manager for the 2024 cycle. Rachel is a battle-tested campaign operative, who most recently served as Deputy Campaign Manager for Senator Raphael Warnock’s successful campaign in Georgia. After serving on Senator Brown’s successful reelection campaign in 2018 and as a Senior Advisor on Senator Brown’s Dignity of Work Tour in 2019, Rachel helped Democratic candidates in Colorado, North Carolina, and Pennsylvania.

But don’t take our word for it. Here’s what Senator Brown had to say about Rachel:

“Rachel is a daughter of eastern Ohio who understands the Dignity of Work and knows what it takes to win tough races, including in Ohio. Rachel has spent her entire career fighting for working families and this race will be no different. Connie and I are confident that under Rachel’s leadership we’ll show voters we’re on their side and win next November.”

Senator Brown – we couldn’t agree more.

This week we caught up with Rachel and asked her about her favorite Ohio ice cream shop and flavor. Without missing a beat, Rachel emphatically said:

Brown Butter Almond Brittle from Jeni’s Ice Cream

Team – we’re in good hands with Rachel. Make sure to give her a follow at @RachelNPetri on Twitter,  and while you’re at it, give Senator Brown a follow at @SherrodBrown.
