An Abortion Became Lifesaving Surgery to Remove an Ovarian Cyst

As a young woman I found myself pregnant. I had been taking prescription medications and my doctor suggested that I abort. When I had the procedure a few weeks later, the doctor could find no embryo. From the clinic, I was shipped to a hospital and underwent surgery. Back then “going in” was the only option. The surgeon expected to find a fertilized egg in my fallopian tube. But that wasn’t it. There was a huge cyst on an ovary.

Oddly there never was a fertilized egg. That abortion and doctor saved my life.
