End of an Era

2022 has been a good one! We had so many great candidates, which resulted in great conversations with voters all over the county. We have our first Democratic representative for Allegan County – Congratulations Joey Andrews! And it was so great to see so many of you at our first (maybe annual??) Holiday Gala.

And yet, we are now faced with the reality of the true value of our office on Hubbard Street. We got such a great deal from David and Emily Green for so many years. Facing another increase in 2023 (doubling of the rent we paid in 2022,) we have made the decision to move out of our very special office by the end of January 2023. We plan to discuss all the future possibilities over the next year – an election season office, a smaller year round office, a mobile trailer/office and additional options we haven’t dreamed up yet. What is the best location? What can we afford, i.e. how much are Democrats willing to contribute to having an office?

Farewell to the Office Party

So many great memories in this special place. We will serve chili and cornbread. Stop by one last time.

It’s been my joy to serve as the Chair of the Allegan Dems for these last six years. In November, I did not run for Chair of the Allegan Dems, as I am running for Chair of the new 4th Congressional District Committee. I hope you will consider attending the Michigan Democratic Party convention on Saturday, February 11th at Huntington Place (formerly Cobo Hall) where MDP members in CD4 will vote on the new CD4 officers.
