Midterm election events!

Hi Indivisibles:

The stakes are incredibly high for this upcoming midterm election. Even with the shocking news that stolen classified documents were found stashed in Trump’s Mar-a-Lago home, MAGA extremists have rushed to his defense and ramped up the same violent rhetoric and conspiracy theories that led to the Jan. 6th insurrection.

While MAGA apologists tried to contain the fallout, Democrats were actually at work passing the Inflation Reduction Act. The act puts historic investment into clean renewable energy, reduces prescription medication costs, and taxes large corporations their fair share to pay for it. The contrast with MAGA extremists could not be clearer.

Indivisible Yolo is kicking off a series of midterm election events as we work to keep Democrats in charge and stop the MAGA fanatics from doing more damage. Scroll down for more details.

P.S. don’t forget to call our state legislative members on priority bills- votes are happening fast in August! Example call scripts and contact info are below.

Call State Senator Dodd in support of priority state bills:

Sample Call Script:

Hello, my name is [YOUR NAME]. I’m a constituent of Senator Dodd and my zip code is [zip code].

Please vote yes on AB 2632,  the California Mandela Act on Solitary Confinement, to set clear standards and limits on the use of solitary confinement. It’s an inhumane punishment that’s too often abused and used on vulnerable populations. I’d also like to see Senator Dodd support AB 257the FAST recovery act, to set minimum workplace standards for the fast food industry in California. Thank you!

Call Assemblymember Aguiar-Curry in support of SB 1008- the Keep Families Connected Act

Assm. Aguiar-Curry: (530) 757-1034 (Davis) (916) 319-2004 (Sacramento) email

Sample Call Script:

Hello, my name is [YOUR NAME]. I’m a constituent of Assemblymember Aguiar-Curry and my zip code is [zip code].

I’m calling to ask Assemblymember Aguiar-Curry to support SB 1008, the Keep Families Connected Act, which will provide incarcerated people with 60 minutes of voice communication a day. Being able to connect with family, friends, and outside resources is important for incarcerated people, and the prison industry should not be profiteering off of families who have incarcerated loved ones. Please support SB 1008. Thank you.
