INDIVISIBLE VENTURA

Good afternoon, Indivisible Venturans!

It’s March For Our Lives Day and we’re behind as usual. Our only excuse is we actually had a planning role in this event, along with other local organizations. But our hats are off to the two community members, Molly Salmon and Krystal  Lopez, for taking on the tremendous task of creating a community event on this scale. It’s going to be huge! And the march isn’t not the only thing happening today! Keep ahead of us at tinyurl.com/VC-events

EVENTS & ACTIVITIES

Saturday – 06/11/2022 – THOUSAND OAKS – “VENTURA COUNTY  March For Our Lives” (11:00am PT) Westlake Village Promenade, Westlake & Thousand Oaks Blvd.

We are calling for a March For Our Lives on Saturday, June 11 demanding that President Biden and lawmakers take action immediately to stop the gun violence epidemic. Organizers from across our chapters will be putting on local marches and the national organization will produce a high-impact, high-volume March in DC.
Our message and ask for this March is simple: no longer will we be held hostage by our lawmakers and no longer will we tolerate feeling unsafe in our communities. Regardless of what party you stand for, if you do not support lifesaving measures like universal background checks, we will pledge to vote against you this fall and in future elections.
By participating in this event, you agree
(i) not to engage in any act of violence or violation of any applicable law,
(ii) to obey the orders of authorized event marshals and law enforcement authorities, and

(iii) that event organizers and sponsors will not be responsible for any injury or damage to your person or property resulting from or occurring in the course of your participating in the event, and you agree to release and forever hold harmless event organizers and sponsors, and their respective officers, directors, employees, and agents from liability for any such injury or damage.

March For Our Lives – Actions to take after the march!

What happens AFTER the march is critical – this is where we convince our legislators that we will not forget and we will not let up – where we commit to transforming today’s energy into a sustained campaign of demands that they make substantive changes on gun safety laws. Our goal – make mass shootings, gun suicides and accidental gun discharges by young children the rare and horrible events they should be and not just another day in America.

PHONEBANKS, TEXT BANKS, POSTCARDS,Sunday – 06/12/2022 – PHONE BANK – “Adopt-A-Traitor Phone Bank – CA-27 (formerly CA-25)” (3:00 pm – 5:00 pm PT)

Join Field Team 6 in calling eligible voters (likely Dems) in Californa’s 27th district! (Formerly CA-25!) You’ll be targeting Mike Garcia, a traitorous Republican who voted to overturn the Biden election results.

You’ll be reaching out to get people registered as Democrats, or signed up to vote from home (vote by mail) if they’re already registered.

Making sure people are registered to vote, and that they can vote safely from home, is a super-effective way to make a difference. In 2022, we can flip this seat back to a Democrat.

But we need your help. Join us as we turn voices into votes! All training provided!

JOIN THE POSTCARD BRIGADE!!

You Can Make a Difference! Do you want to help Democrats win in the 2022 elections?  You can write Get Out The Vote (GOTV) postcards to help get Democratic voters to the polls!  Studies have shown that receiving a colorful postcard with a short punchy message is the most effective way to persuade a voter to get to the polls.

One of Indivisible Ventura’s members is working with Postcards to Swing States (PSS) to coordinate GOTV postcarding focused on Senate races in swing states.  PSS identifies the campaigns, writes the message, and provides the voter names and addresses. She will provide the cards and, if needed, the stamps.

If you want to participate, please send an email to her at ivpostcards@gmail.com. She will add you to her writer roster and email you a description of the campaigns she is currently running. You decide which campaigns you want to join and specify the number of cards you want.  If you live locally, you may collect your supplies from her address in Ventura.  She can also will snail mail your packet to you.

Resist every damn day!

Please DONATE to the cause!

Indivisible Ventura is completely volunteer run and your donation will support the direct costs of organizing in Ventura — things like expenses for Swap Meet Justice, posters, art supplies, stamps, transportation, and more! Although we’ve defeated Trump and taken back the Senate, we have to act urgently to save our democracy and enact other desperately needed reforms. Getting it done depends on all of us. Let’s stand together, indivisible. Indivisible Ventura is one of 6,000 grassroots Indivisible groups across the country. Together, we will win. (https://secure.actblue.com/donate/ven383907253)
