Dear Friends,

Here we are, at a true crossroads for our state and nation. Tonight’s hearing is launching one of the most important efforts of our lives – uncovering the truth about January 6.  Most, if not all of us, are feeling anxiety of one sort or another.  But, Friends, we don’t live in anger, nervous anticipation or depression.  We take action!  We stand together!  And we WILL MAKE A DIFFERENCE!

There are many very important ways we can make our lives and the lives of others better.  Read below for how you can make it happen. And plan on joining us at the first of three Women’s Summits on June 25th – where we will rejoice in friendships and shared values and where we will power up because we are ALL IN TO WIN VIRGINIA!

Let’s get it done!

VOTE ‘EM OUT

Friday Power Lunch, June 10, noon ET

Day after day we are bombarded with dire consequences of today’s political environment. Enough is enough! As columnist Jennifer Rubin wrote in the Washington Post on June 5, 2022: “The problem is not lily-livered Democrats or ‘polarization.’ Our democracy is being thwarted again and again by an increasingly radical, antidemocratic GOP driven by white grievance and nostalgia for a pre-civil-rights America.”

With the Midterm elections coming up, we need to stay focused on protecting our Democracy! We know we can win. We’ve done it. We know the grassroots has fearless determination to Get out the Vote. When We Vote We WIN! The theme of the June 10, 2022, Friday Power lunch is let’s do what it takes to Vote Them Out!

We will kick off the show with Rachel Bitecofer, a nationally-recognized election analyst and political strategist, blogger of The Cycle, and founder of StrikePac. Rachel makes amazingly accurate predictions…but is always unpredictable. She will bring her special fusion of data-based analysis & cutting edge commentary to a discussion of what we need to do to win in the Midterms.

EJ Scott, Chair of the Democratic Black Caucus of Virginia, will tell us about Juneteenth an event the organization is having on June 18. This is the 16th year DBCV has held a commemoration of the last notice given Black people that slavery had ended in the South. She will also tell us what the Democratic Black Caucus sees as a needed strategy for better turnout and messaging leading up to the Midterms.

American Promise Candidate Pledge Campaign

Thursday, June 9th, 7:30pm

Join the over 30 Virginia candidates/elected officials, and the hundreds of legislators who have signed the MoneyOut Pledge nationally.  As Democratic Congressman Don Beyer states “Elections and the policy decisions that follow them should be about the best ideas, not about the most money. Big money in politics makes a mockery of the democratic ideal of one person, one vote”.  Republican Delegate Tim Anderson opined that “Most of the dysfunction of government comes from the undue influence of large campaign contributions. Virginia has no limits on contributions and office holders are oftentimes installed by millionaires”.
