Focus on June 28
Usually the Illinois primary is behind us by now; but this year, to accommodate the redistricting that followed the 2020 census, it’s scheduled for the last Tuesday in June. This is a chance for us to elect a new generation of progressive leadership in Washington.
State rep Delia Ramirez, running in the newly mapped 3rd congressional district, is a longtime community activist and a proven legislator, an assistant majority leader in the Illinois state house. Kina Collins is a nationally recognized leader in gun-violence prevention making her second run in the 7th district. Both are endorsed by Indivisible, Indivisible Chicago, Sunrise Movement-Chicago, and many other progressive organizations.
Ground game will be critical in both races. So we’ll be phone banking for these candidates on alternate Tuesday evenings until the primary—this week for Ramirez, next week for Collins.
Last fall, when progressives were complaining to Joe Manchin about his obstinacy, he said if we want more liberal policy, we need to elect more liberals. OK, this where we start! Go here to see our phone bank schedule and sign up to help.

Reasons to Be Active in 2022
#3: Re-elect Tony Evers, the governor who stands between the state of Wisconsin and the fiery pits of MAGA hell.
. . . but don’t forget Wisconsin
Meanwhile we’re keeping an eye on Wisconsin, which in 2022—as usual—will be close, crucial, and hotly contested. We have a chance to gain a seat in the Senate and get rid of Ron Johnson at the same time. And we have to re-elect Governor Tony Evers, our last defense against the Republican miscreants who are trying (with too much success so far) to take over the state’s electoral machinery. Fortunately Wisconsin is home to the WisDems, one of the country’s most effective Democratic party organizations, and we’re teaming up with them to prepare the way for another winning year. In our Wisconsin Wednesday Phone Banks we’ll be contacting Democratic voters and encouraging them to apply for absentee ballots. The campaign kicks off this Wednesday, May 4, 6-8 PM. Please sign up here: we need you now!
