Tuesday Tidbits

8 mins read

I constantly remind myself: Don’t get mad, get organized. Good advice for any activist.

Today’s Tidbits include a request that you fill out the Virginia Grassroots Power Map to help us identify activists in all the new districts. This will help grassroots leaders reach out to you when the need arrives in your new district.  Also, it is Women’s Summit planning time. Sign up to join us for the Women’s Summit Interest and Planning Meeting, April 10, NOON on Zoom.

Let’s get it done,

It is time to remap ourselves with the new Virginia maps. It is time to learn your US Congressional District #, Virginia State Senate #, and Virginia House Delegates #. We must map our strength.

Use this handy form to look them up, write them down with the incumbent and candidates for those seats. We must get empowered now with our new territories and encourage others to join our fight for democracy.  It is imperative that we do this as widely as possible for this year, 2022 and 2023 & 2024!

Map yourself here: https://tinyurl.com/2022VAdems, and please use as many of the social share options as possible.

Groups/Orgs, please map yourselves here:https://tinyurl.com/2hm6jbyx

The Virginia House of Delegates and Senate have each put out their proposals for a new two-year state budget to start this July, and the differences in K-12 funding are stark. Each chamber has now elected representatives called “conferees” who will come together to negotiate a final “conference budget.”With hundreds of millions of K-12 funding at stake, now is the time to reach out to conferees to let them know where you stand.  Please take easy action here with Fund Our Schools.

Please use the One Click Call to Action to ask Senate Democrats and conferees of HB86, to appropriate funding in their budget for HB86, an excellent campaign finance bill. Pay special attention to Democratic Senate conferees of HB86: Senators Boysko, Mason and Reeve.

CALL TO ACTION – Rural GroundGame Community Voices Collection

“As we work to improve electoral outcomes for Democrats in rural communities, we are inviting you to join us for a research project! We are working with Filter Labs to gather publicly available commentary on the issues. The purpose of this project is to identify local non profit or grassroots organizations, businesses, clubs, faith communities, local government and public institutions for the purpose of better understanding community sentiment on the issues we care about.

Our hope is to be part of building a database that can serve rural Democrats in Virginia through increased awareness of local opinion and the impact of our messaging over time.

“If you or someone you know live or work in a rural community in Virginia, please fill out this form. Questions? Email: Lynlee@ruralgroundgame.org
