Redistricting Near the Finish Line!
Now is the time to make your comment. The commission has issued a set of maps for the Congressional, State Senate and State House Districts.
They’ll be voting on them at the end of December.
You can give public comment on Thursday Nov. 18th in Ann Arbor at the Michigan League. Info here.
We’ll be sending our evaluations and recommendations for comment very soon! There are several organizations who have developed methods of scoring the maps for partisan fairness and possible results, and they don’t all reach the same conclusions.
If you’d like to learn more from one of them, a MI nonprofit called NextVote.us is presenting their approach and conclusions, and showing how to add comment on the maps, today at 4pm. You can learn more about the factors that go into evaluations, and what the maps might mean. Caveat- no system can give a sure prediction of results! More info here.
