Homeless Period Project Supplies Needed!
Did you know that our volunteers build period packs in support of the Homeless Period Project? The project provides pre-made kits for homeless shelters and nurse’s offices at Title IX schools in the Lowcountry. These items are a luxury to homeless women and girls and many are forced to choose between hygiene and food. Please consider donating the following items so we can continue to support this amazing project!
-feminine pads
-tampons
-individually wrapped wipes
-panty liners
Thanks again for your generosity!
Our office has limited public hours due to COVID, but if you are dropping off donations, you can email wecare@charlestondemocrats.com or call (843) 577-6000 to arrange a drop off time.

COVID-19 VACCINE
As we continue to see case numbers and hospitalizations rise in South Carolina and across the country, we want to do everything we can to protect our communities. Therefore, we want to ensure that we provide resources to help people who have not already been vaccinated against COVID-19 to find a nearby place to get the vaccine, which you can do through the button below.
We cannot stress enough that we must not give up the fight against the virus. And getting vaccinated is a vital part of that fight!
HURRICANE PREPAREDNESS RESOURCES
At our 8/19 meeting, we heard from Daniel Flessas from the South Carolina Emergency Management Division (SCEMD) about hurricane preparedness. These resources are especially important given the effects of Hurricane Ida we saw in Louisiana this past Sunday. Here are some important resources that Mr. Flessas shared with us:

READY TO RUN FOR OFFICE? If you are interested in making a difference in your community, please take time to consider running for office. The South Carolina Democratic Party has put out a form for individuals to express interest in running. You may think that it is too early to start thinking about this, but electoral success will require carefully laid out plans, which in turn require time. In addition to the SCDP information that you can access through the button below, here are more resources for women considering a run for office:
