Former CCDP chair Colleen Condon has been nominated to fill the vacant SC Executive Committee position. Nominations will also be taken from the floor.

Additionally, we will hear about hurricane preparedness from South Carolina Emergency Management Division (SCEMB) officials and will discuss canvassing efforts, including a canvass this Saturday in North Charleston. Sign up through the button below. Please wear a mask.

Last weekend, Charleston Democrats partnered with Black Lives Matter Charleston, Voices United, Charleston Black Pride, Lowcountry Young Democrats, and Black Girl Magic to giveaway over 250 backpacks full of supplies, as well as uniforms to students, and register voters at 6 community events around Charleston County! We would like to thank you all for your generous financial contributions in raising nearly $2500 and physical donations of school supplies. While we didn’t meet our initial goal this year, we were overjoyed by your incredible show of support without which, we couldn’t have pulled it off.

The James Island/Folly Beach Democrats had approximately 18 volunteers during our Adopt a Highway cleanup a few weeks ago. We covered approximately 2 1/2 miles. We cleaned from the entrance of S. Grimball Rd, along Folly Rd to the entrance of Sol Legare Rd. The First Baptist Church of James Island provided bus transportation for our members to and from their vehicles. The Cleanup was a “Total” Success!!

The South Carolina Democratic Party is seeking future Democratic leaders. The fellowship, named after US House Majority Whip and SC-6 Representative James E. Right now, we need postcard stamps to continue our Postcards to Voters campaign. The office is open each Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 11-3, and Saturday from 10-4.

If these times do not work, please email to make other arrangements to drop off the stamps.

If you are interested in making a difference in your community, please take time to consider running for office. The South Carolina Democratic Party has put out a form for individuals to express interest in running. You may think that it is too early to start thinking about this, but electoral success will require carefully laid out plans, which in turn require time. In addition to the SCDP information that you can access through the button below, here are more resources for women considering a run for office:
