LEADERSHIP UPDATES

At our next county meeting (next Thursday, August 19th), we will take up elections for Executive Committee members from the North Charleston 3 and 5 precincts and the SC Executive Committeewoman. Sarah Whitt and Brandon Tollinger are candidates for North Charleston 3 and 5, respectively. Former CCDP chair Colleen Condon has been nominated to fill the vacant SC Executive Committee position. Nominations will also be taken from the floor.

We also want to express our deepest gratitude to Amber Allen, whose departure has created the vacancy in the Executive Committee position. Amber has been a vital part of CCDP across a number of capacities, including previously serving as our Precinct Coordinator and training innumerable people on canvassing. Additionally, as the co-founder of Make Progress SC, Amber was instrumental in electing Kristin Graziano as Charleston County’s first female sheriff. We are lucky to have Amber Allen in our community and excited to continue supporting her in her endeavors!

READY TO RUN FOR OFFICE?

If you are interested in making a difference in your community, please take time to consider running for office. The South Carolina Democratic Party has put out a form for individuals to express interest in running. You may think that it is too early to start thinking about this, but electoral success will require carefully laid out plans, which in turn require time. In addition to the SCDP information that you can access through the button below, here are more resources for women considering a run for office:
