TOMORROW: Showdown in two GOP-held districts

1 min read

Tomorrow, there are TWO major special elections for the Georgia House. They’re in tough, Republican-leaning districts, but Democrats don’t back down from a challenge.

Georgia went blue for the first time in decades in 2020 – helping elect President Biden AND flipping the U.S. Senate blue. Now, special elections like these are our chance to get a head start on defending those gains in 2022.

Flipping seats like these blue could put a HUGE wrench in national Republicans’ comeback plans, Jake. But to have a shot at victory, we need to support Democratic candidates running in tough races everywhere.

One of these seats hasn’t even seen a Democrat on the ballot in more than a decade, Jake. The other favored Donald Trump by more than 15 points the first time – until Joe Biden closed that gap to less than 4% last fall.

That signals to us that these districts are tough, but anything could happen – and grassroots energy and support WILL make the difference if Democrats score an upset.

It’ll be an uphill battle. But local Democrats are tenacious and fired up, and we won’t back down from ANY opportunity to gain ground against Trump’s state allies – no matter the odds
