WCDP Monthly Meeting Reminder

3 mins read

Saturday, March 6
9:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

Last month’s deeply inspiring forum was a very important piece of WCDP’s ongoing effort to elevate the voices, the ideas, and the leadership of marginalized communities and of Black women in particular.

We continue with addressing the crises of COVID-19 and how it intersects racial inequality in administrating to Black communities in Washtenaw County. Records show that not only has the Black population been hit disproportionately hard, dying at a much higher rate than other groups, but, as is found nationwide, they are being left behind in access to vaccines. We will look at why that is and what can be done to remedy it.

Speakers include:

  • Hon. Lois Richardson, Mayor, City of Ypsilanti
  • Sr. Pastor Jeff Harold, New Beginnings Community Church, Ypsilanti
  • State Rep. Yousef Rabhi, Rep., MI-53
  • State Rep. Felicia Brabec House District 55

What’s Happening with Precinct Organizing?Your team is hard at work behind the scenes, making plans for building the WCDP presence in the community. We are very proud of our work together for the 2020 election, and are excited to partner with you to build on it in the coming months. We’ll need all hands on deck to ensure that we keep our superstar executive team in Lansing, and give these amazing women a serious and responsive Democratic legislature to work with.

Our plans include empowering our Precinct Delegates to build relationships in their precincts, and developing a Deep Canvassing program to build the Democratic base, which we’re doing in collaboration with People’s Action and Michigan United. Stay tuned! And if you’d like to collaborate in the planning, just reach out to poc@washtenawdems.org.
