We are incredibly excited to announce that we have added new t-shirts to our CCDP online store! These shirts (as can be seen above) include limited-edition baseball jerseys that honor President Biden and Vice President Harris on the back. They will ONLY be available for pre-order until March 15, so be sure to order yours now before they are gone! Additionally, we have a new Charleston Democrat shirt printed by the Turning Leaf Project in Charleston. If you want to learn more about the work of the Turning Leaf Project, please visit their website here. Please note that the shirts will not be available for delivery or pickup until the first week of April, but you can pre-order them now. Click on the button below to take a look!

As we mentioned in our county meeting last month, the Charleston County Democratic Party is choosing new leadership in March. We wanted to remind people interested in running for Chair of the party that the nominating committee is currently accepting nominations, especially given that our current Chair Colleen Condon is not running for reelection. If interested, please email Ben Pogue at

Additionally, the Charleston Peninsula Democrats are accepting nominations for the club’s 2021-2022 leadership team! If you or someone you know is looking to make a difference and has one hour per week to give towards community outreach to elect Democrats, this is the volunteer position for you! Email to learn more!

MON MAR 01 6 PM LWV Good Governance Symposium Series Session 1:
Voting RightsThe League of Women Voters is holding its inaugural Good Governance Symposium Series to encourage thoughtful non-partisan discussion of public policy issues and topics. This series will promote education and awareness relating to critical good government issues that impact national, state and local governance through five sessions. Each session will include accompanying “pre-reading” materials and will end with a “Call to Action” to advocate for state and federal legislation to help address these critical issues.

The first session is on voting rights. This important first session will lay the stage for the entire series. We will explore the history of the Voting Rights Act, attempts to dismantle the legislation, including the impacts of Shelby County v. Holder (2013), recent voting restrictions and solutions to move forward and ensure every person has a voice.

Last week’s question was:

“To where will the food dropped off through Saturday’s food drive-thru be donated?”

The correct answer was Regina Duggins’ Canned Soul Food Drive. Thank you again to everyone who participated! The winner of the giveaway was Tonetta Coleman.

Tonetta, please reply to this newsletter to claim your prize!

This week’s question is:

“When will the new CCDP t-shirts that you pre-ordered be available for delivery or pick-up?”

Submit your answer HERE and check back next week to see if you’ve won!

Give Back

We are looking for a couple of volunteers to help us serve a meal at the Navigation Center on Thursday, March 3rd. For those who don’t know, on the first Thursday of every month (this means 3/4/21), the CCDP supports the Navigation Center to help feed our neighbors. We need your help to make this event run smoothly! We need:

  • 1-2 people to provide some sort of dessert (like cookies!) for around 50-60 people. The address of where to drop off the dessert will be provided closer to the event.
  • 2 more people to help serve the food and clean up afterward (around 4:15-5:45pm)

Please sign up HERE if you are interested in helping out! And, as always, please mask up, wash your hands, and maintain social distance throughout the entire event.

As mentioned above, please support CCDP (and help elect Democrats) by buying one of our brand new t-shirts! We also have water bottles, Koozies, bags, and pint glasses!

DemCast is an advocacy-based 501(c)4 nonprofit. We have made the decision to build a media site free of outside influence. There are no ads. We do not get paid for clicks. If you appreciate our content, please consider a small monthly donation.

The mission of the Charleston County Democratic Party is to educate and encourage participation in the political process by people of all backgrounds who support Democratic principles. Funds garnered from this participation will be used to help elect Democratic candidates and to support Democratic programs.
