CCDP BLACK HISTORY MONTH PROGRAMMING

Next Monday begins the month of February, which means it is almost Black History Month! The Charleston County Democratic Party will celebrate Black History Month virtually this year to keep our community safe during the continued spread of COVID-19.

On our social media channels, specifically Facebook and Youtube, we will broadcast short, 15 minute programs on various themes throughout the week for the month of February as follows:

Medicine Mondays: At a designated time each Monday, we will hear from a Black healthcare professional on their topic of choice that relates to Black History

Wellness Wednesdays: At a designated time each Wednesday, we will hear from a Black wellness professional on various areas of wellness and self-care

Celebration of Black Food on Fridays: If you do not already, you should follow @BlackFoodFridays on Instagram & TikTok and support Black-owned restaurants whenever you eat out, but especially on Fridays! We’ll cross-promote @BlackFoodFridays content on our page to celebrate Black Food in the Lowcountry.

Sunday Brunch Series: At a designated time each Sunday, we will feature a historian to discuss pivotal moments in Black history over a “brunch-time” zoom or Facebook / Youtube Livestream

Book Discussion: Our Time Is Now by Stacey Abrams

Join the Charleston County Democratic Party on January 31st at 4 PM via Zoom for a discussion of Our Time Is Now: Power, Purpose, and the Fight for a Fair America, by Stacey Abrams. She has been laying the groundwork for this moment in Georgia for the last 10 years! In the book, Abrams offers her blueprint to end voter suppression, empower citizens and ensure the most popular candidates win. We will discuss the book and share ideas for how we can continue building our momentum here in Charleston County in 2021! The Meeting ID/password will follow.
