Saturday, January 9
9:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

The Ann Arbor Democratic Party and the Washtenaw County Democratic Party will meet virtually Saturday, January 9, 2021, 9:30 am-12:00 noon for a Continuing Discussion about Lessons Learned from the November 3rd Election!

The WCDP started a discussion at our December monthly membership meeting that questioned why, despite our gratitude for the election of Biden/Harris and MI Senator Gary Peters, Democrats did not do better down ballot. And Trump and many other leaders of the Republican Party continue to challenge fundamental principles of democracy and the rule of law. Our 12th District Rep. Debbie Dingell will update us on current political developments.

To begin our discussion, we’ll hear from Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel and be able to ask her questions. Also, Michigan Democratic Party Chair Lavora Barnes will share her ideas with us, and she, too, will take questions. Discussions are open to all! We encourage you to participate! Then, Ingrid Ault, Vice Chair for Programs for the A2Dems, will share information about (low) voter turnout in Ann Arbor.

We will then open the floor for discussion of two questions:

1) As Democrats, how do we message to reach more people, especially those who do not see us as speaking to their critical daily concerns?

2) How can people who believe in democratic values and the importance of the truth respond to lies, distorted truths, hate speech of conservative radio talk show hosts, Fox news, social media, and Trump Republicans? How can we weaken the influence of these sources of hate and misinformation, as they will, no doubt, continue after Biden & Harris are inaugurated?

We welcome and encourage your participation!
