Hi everybody,

Did this seem like a particularly long week?

However, there was some good news, (besides our president’s constant losing) – “Breaking: US Judge Nicholas Garaufis has ordered the Trump administration to fully restore DACA, instructing DHS to open the Obama-era program to new applicants for the first time since 2017.” As soon as the pandemic breaks, “Swap Meet Justice – Volunteer Citizenship Fair” opens again with full services to ALL qualified DACA recipients! Quick notes on our post: (tinyurl.com/Antiracist-events-Ventura)

Georgia needs our help!

PHONEBANKING/TEXTBANKING/INSTAGRAM/DM: We have tons of phone/textbanking opportunities on our site here, (tinyurl.com/Antiracist-events-Ventura). There is a definite need for bilingual assistance as well. Our “Phonebanking for introverts” resource is here. (https://indivisibleventura.org/phone-banking-for-the-rest-of-us/)

Monday – 12/7 ONLINE – “Georgia Phonebanking for Unregistered Voters with Field Team 6!” (12 pm PST – 3 pm PST)
Facebook link here. We’re teaming up with Field Team 6 to help elect Reverend Raphael Warnock and Jon Ossoff by calling unregistered voters in Georgia before the registration deadline on December 7th! This is not easy phone banking, but we want to do everything we can to set the Biden Administration up for success. Every vote counts and every phone call makes a difference! To join us register here: https://www.mobilize.us/mobilize/event/364804/
Don’t worry if you’ve never called before; it’s not hard at all, and we’ll give you all the training you need over Zoom. We’ll keep the Zoom open the whole shift, in case you have any questions, and debrief at the end. All you’ll need is a phone and your laptop, tablet, or desktop computer

New opportunities we’ve just added to the list!:

Flip the West now has an INSTAGRAM Direct Messenger campaign to reach college students and the LGBTQ+ community, along with an “anytime” phonebank, a new textbank schedule and a list of training times.

United We Dream PAC has a phonebank which is reaching out to eligible Latinx voters.
WRITING CAMPAIGNS: Added one today. There are now five postcard options and two letterwriting options listed here.(https://indivisibleventura.org/2020/11/09/georgia-on-your-mind-write-gotv-postcards-to-their-voters/)

New Action Calls/Emails to legislators:

Action #1: Tell your representative to get rid of the “Motion to Recommit” and the “PayGo” rules.
This sounds weird and wonky, but there’s a really great video to explain it and it’s surprisingly important.

#2: Tell your legislators that it’s time for D.C. statehood. Seriously. Excellent VOX video lays out the history, along with a written post from Indivisible. Post for both actions here: (https://indivisibleventura.org/2020/12/04/friday-action-wrap-up-d-c-statehood-and-house-rules/)

Watch out for these petition hawkers outside our county’s stores! Our county’s great environmental community has put out an alert. Watch out for an army of paid signature gatherers outside our stores trying to push a petition to reverse the Board of Supervisors recent decision to require the oil industry, even those with ancient permits, to comply to modern regulations for new wells, instead of just polluting our earth, water, and air, like it was still the 1940’s. Don’t fall for their misdirection. Don’t let your friends and neighbors fall for them either. And if you have time and energy, go stand 6′ feet away from the petition gatherers and tell people the truth. We have downloadable signs here or make your own!
