October 8 Newsletter: Socially Distanced Canvassing

9 mins read

Dear Friends –

At last night’s vice presidential debate, Senator Kamala Harris did a fantastic job. Not only did she forcefully condemn the failures of the Trump administration, she also made a strong case for the ways the Biden-Harris administration will improve the lives of the American people. Joe Biden and Kamala Harris will make a great team, but we have to get them across the finish line, and we have 26 days left to make that happen.

The good news is that Miami-Dade Democrats are already voting, and thousands of us have already mailed in our ballots, or turned them in directly to the Supervisor of Elections office. Need help with your ballot? We’ve got our full 2020 Democratic voter guide online at www.votefordemocrats.miami. This includes information on the state amendments, the county amendments and as much guidance as we can give on the judges.

Ways to get involved:

Join one our Early Voting Site Teams: We need more volunteers to help us hand out slate cards at Early Voting Sites across Miami-Dade. This is a HUGE undertaking and we’re going to need all the help! Sign up here: Join the Miami-Dade Dems at an Early Voting Site

We are still looking for Paid Canvassers: There are a number of campaigns that are hiring right now and we are collecting resumes for anyone who is interested in a $15/hour paid role doing socially distanced canvassing. Are you interested? Or know someone who is? Fill out this form here, and one of the campaigns will be in touch.

Upcoming Events:

We now have campaign offices open in Miami Gardens, Aventura, Doral, North Miami, Liberty City, Little Havana, Perrine, Coral Gables, Cutler Bay, and Homestead. This weekend we are adding two more: Coconut Grove and Palmetto Bay.

Saturday, October 10 at 2:30pm: Coconut Grove Campaign Office OpeningPlease stop by between 2:30-4:30 on Saturday, Oct 10th to meet your local Democratic candidates, pick up yard signs, or sign up for a volunteer activity. The office is located at the back of the building. Parking is free in the back.

Democratic turnout this August increased by nearly 70% from four years ago. And Vote-By-Mail is one of the big reasons why. Now more than ever, it’s important to keep the momentum going and deliver Florida to Joe Biden and Kamala Harris and all our Democratic candidates up and down the ballot. Help encourage voters to request a vote-by-mail ballot by October and mail-in early or drop off at early voting locations drop-boxes. Sign up here: https://www.mobilize.us/miamidadedems/event/309100/

Join the Voter Protection Team:
The voter protection team is looking for lawyers, problem solvers and patriotic people to help protect the vote during Early Voting and on Election Day. There are remote and in-person opportunities: https://www.miamidadedems.org/protect_the_vote

Become a Sustaining Donor

I can’t thank all of our sustaining donors enough for stepping up and pitching in a small amount each month. These sustaining donations allow us to plan the programs that will drive up voter turnout across our county. We couldn’t run our field program or our digital program without your support.

Can you become a sustaining donor of $7$10, or $20.20 today?

We know this is a tough time for many of us right now, so please know we appreciate you staying involved in any way that you can. Thank you for all you do.

Onward,

Christopher Richmond
