TALLAHASSEE, Fl. –The Florida Democratic Party announced Monday that they are investing in a major digital ad buy focused on down ballot candidates. The full ad buy is over $400,000 and will include more than a dozen region specific ads highlighting local candidates, and it will be anchored by a statewide ad “Missed,” which impresses the importance of voting for Democrats at every level of government.
“For 21 years Florida has been decimated by Republican rule. And beyond their historic negligence, Republicans in Florida have failed to lead during our current crisis. From an unemployment system they designed to fail, to a lack of mask mandates, Republican leaders have left everyday Floridians to fend for themselves. This is unacceptable and we know it’s time for change,” said Rosy Gonzalez Speers, Senior Advisor at the Florida Democratic Party.
There are an unprecedented number of Democrats running for office in Florida at every single level— and the Florida Democratic Party is committed to helping elect these leaders. This digital campaign builds on the previous investments in the down ballot program at the party, which includes grants to campaigns to run their own facebook ads, tech support, and campaign tools. The program is focused on electing local candidates across the state and ushering in a new era for Florida.
“Missed” and region specific ads will run on Connected TV, Facebook and YouTube through election day. The ad leads voters to sunshine.vote where they can register to vote, request a vote by mail ballot, and find all of the Democratic candidates who will be on their specific ballot.
TRANSCRIPT FOR “MISSED”
“For months, we’ve missed family reunions, graduations, weddings… we’ve missed each other. But it isn’t our fault. Florida has been decimated under Republican control for 21 years.
Hurting our schools, wages, healthcare, and everyone under COVID-19. But on November 3rd, we can change that by not missing our chance to vote for Democratic candidates all the way down the ballot.
Go to Sunshine.Vote to get a mail ballot, learn about our candidates, and commit to vote.”

Congresswoman Murphy’s Statement on Trump’s Visit to Sanford Friday
In response to the news that Donald Trump is hosting a “Make America Great Again” event in Sanford on Friday, Congresswoman Stephanie Murphy released the following statement:
“Few places have been harder hit by the economic crisis resulting from President Donald Trump’s mismanagement of the COVID-19 response than Central Florida. The Orlando-Sanford area has an unemployment rate that exceeds 15 percent, one of the highest rates in the country. Despite the House passing additional relief for workers and businesses months ago, President Trump failed to make a deal to extend federal unemployment benefits and the eviction moratorium. The President never even came to the table to negotiate.
“We know that our tourism and hospitality industry won’t recover until the pandemic is brought under control, something Donald Trump has failed to do over the last seven months. Our community doesn’t need another campaign event full of excuses and empty promises. We need a national plan to end this nightmare and rebuild our economy.”
