August 28 Newsletter: The RNC Was a Distraction

4 mins read

Dear Friends –

The Democratic Convention and the Republican Convention have offered starkly different visions of this country. Last night, Donald Trump gave his convention speech from the White House, breaking yet another norm in his presidency.

Instead of watching that, I shared this two-minute video the Biden campaign released yesterday called “Keep Up.”

What have we been doing this week? We’re analyzing what worked and what didn’t work with our August primary elections, and we’re preparing for an effort to educate voters about when they should mail in their Vote-By-Mail ballots (by October 17 at the latest), or when and where they can drop off their completed ballots in their signed envelopes (during Early Voting from October 19 – November 1 at Early Voting Locations).

Ways to Get Involved:

With just nine weeks left until this election, there’s no time to waste in making voter contacts and achieving the highest possible Democratic turnout in Miami-Dade.

Join one of our phone banks:
Democratic turnout this August increased by nearly 70% from four years ago. And Vote-By-Mail is one of the big reasons why. Now more than ever, it’s important to keep the momentum going and deliver Florida to Joe Biden and Kamala Harris and all our Democratic candidates up and down the ballot. Help encourage voters to request a vote-by-mail ballot by October and mail-in early or drop off at early voting locations drop-boxes. Sign up here:

Join the Voter Protection Team:
Voter protection team is looking for lawyers, problem solvers and patriotic people to help protect the vote during Early Voting and on Election Day. There are remote and in-person opportunities:

The Field Team is looking for volunteers for a variety of in-person and remote tasks during Get-Out-The-Vote and to staff all the Early Voting sites. Use this form if you can be part of this, and to let us know in what capacity you can join these

“Make no mistake, by electing David Rivera into its leadership, the Republican Party has shown that it is the party of Maduro,” said Steve Simeonidis, the Democratic chair in Miami-Dade.

Become a Sustaining Donor

I can’t thank all of our sustaining donors enough for stepping up and pitching in a small amount each month. These sustaining donations allow us to plan the programs that will drive up voter turnout across our county. We couldn’t run our field program or our digital program without your support.

Can you become a sustaining donor of $7$10, or $20.20 today?

We know this is a tough time for many of us right now, so please know we appreciate you staying involved in any way that you can. Thank you for all you do.
