INDIVISIBLE VENTURA

Hi everyone!

It’s Friday in Ventura County and a country is watching in shock as photos of mailboxes are being hauled off sidewalks and postal employees state that high-speed equipment is being dismantled in their stations. We wonder, where the funding for making voting harder is coming from? Leaving things as-is, costs nothing.

While our own president is openly trying to sabotage our election, get ready for a busy weekend of protest, vigils and community-building.

Today, there’s a peaceful protest in front of Ventura City Hall today at 3:00, and a Revolutionary Art Show and Fundraiser in Oxnard’s Wilson Park at 3:00 and an online virtual vigil for Vanessa Guillen at 7:00.

Saturday brings a Solidarity Art Walk in downtown Ventura between 12-5:30, a Simi Valley march for Breonna Taylor and all Brown and Black women, a ton of great online activities for Ventura County Pride, and in Thousand Oaks, a drive-thru Food Distribution “Feeding the Front Line, from 3-5pm.

On Sunday, there are two Black Lives Matter protests: in Ojai from 12-4pm, and in Camarillo from 3:30-5. There’s a morning Pride Car Caravan starting at 10:00 at the Community Resource Center with a Drag Queen Trivia at 5-7pm. There’s an online panel discussion as well – Black August Los Angeles presents a panel discussion on the history and future of Black and Brown Solidarity with “Political Prisoners – San Quentin Six”.

First, mark your calendar, then make your calls to your senators, (yes, do it over and over!) whether a Democrat or GOP, and tell them to pass the HEROES act, complete with funding for both the Post office and elections offices and, oh yeah, that $600/wk. unemployment insurance. If your senator is GOP, tell them any deaths from not being allowed to vote by mail will be hung on their tails. Then tell your local postal worker that you support them with signs and blue ribbons.

Also, take the time today to start going through Joe Biden’s campaign planks. They’ve been written by Bernie, AOC, Jayapal, and others. We need to start talking to our social circles about what Biden and Harris will do when elected, not just about the horrors of Trump’s daily actions. Enough of the pretense about returning to a time that was only great for some. We need to move on to a 21st century that welcomes everyone. https://joebiden.com/joes-vision/

Note that it’s day 25 of the hunger strike for Breonna. Please check out that section of our post and do one of the actions there as well. You can also leave an encouraging message on their Facebook page, next to their latest video. https://www.facebook.com/hungerstrikersforbreonna
