July 30 newsletter: Send in your ballots!

10 mins read

We’re not where we need to be. Around 10% of Democrats have returned their vote-by-mail ballots for the August election already. But more than 12% of Republicans have sent theirs in.

This August primary is too pivotal to sit out. Whether we have a county government that is responsive to the people, cares about affordable housing, the environment, creating jobs, easing the traffic nightmare, and listens to science—this all comes down to us participating in the August primary.

We have several weeks of Get-Out-The-Vote events scheduled, and we need your help reaching out to Democrats across Miami-Dade County and reminding them to turn in their ballots. See all the details below and let’s change our county for the better!

Join Vice President Biden and South Florida leaders for the 2020 Blue Gala

We held the first night of our Virtual Blue Gala last night and it was a huge success. (Did you miss it? You can still watch it here. We have another livestream scheduled for tonight, with an amazing lineup of speakers and performers, including an appearance from Vice President Joe Biden. It will go live from our Facebook page at 7:00 PM.

Can’t tune in to the Blue Gala but still want to support our fundraising efforts to help pay for our field program? You can donate here: https://secure.actblue.com/donate/miamidadebluegala

Special BYE-DON Yard Signs

Help us say bye to 45, and let everyone know your candidate! Miami-Dade Dems have yard signs for Biden – you can make a $10 contribution here to request yours. You can pick them up from us at the Senate Victory office on any Wednesday during business hours, at 4649 Ponce de Leon. You can also reach out if you’re interested in helping lead phonebanks to voters who may want one. Email Ariel Sepulveda at fielddirector@miamidadedems.org

The Voter Protection Team is Recruiting Poll Watchers

It’s not too late to sign up to one of the most critical missions we have: to ensure that every voter who intends to cast a vote, can cast a vote. The Miami-Dade Democratic Party’s Voter Protection Committee, chaired by Wayne Brody is looking for volunteers to help with this mission.

While we are encouraging as many people to vote by mail as possible, we know that many people will still choose to vote in person. We need lawyers, activists, and problem solvers to help recruit, work the polls, and troubleshoot remotely. If you are up to joining the fight to save the vote, click here to sign up.

Become a Sustaining Donor

I can’t thank all of our sustaining donors enough for stepping up and pitching in a small amount each month. These sustaining donations allow us to plan the programs that will drive up voter turnout across our county. We couldn’t run our field program or our digital program without your support.

Can you become a sustaining donor of $7$10, or $20.20 today?

We know this is a tough time for many of us right now, so please know we appreciate you staying involved in any way that you can. Thank you for all you do.
