VOTE BLUE SIMPLIFIES ABSENTEE PROCESS FOR NOVEMBER
As you may remember, CCDP rolled out our absentee voting website VoteBlueSC.com back in the spring to help simplify the process of absentee voting for voters across the state. With less than 100 days until the November election, we are excited to remind everyone about this system and its features as we prepare for the most important election of our lifetimes. Vote Blue presents voters with all of their options to receive an absentee application, from receiving it via email to having it mailed. Most importantly, it gives our volunteers the ability to check in with the voter at each stage of the process to make sure they understand all the steps and when the next step is due. Voters’ requests go directly to their county’s Board of Elections, and many voters have reported getting their ballot application within minutes of submitting the form.
Since the primary, we have made improvements to the website to make the request process even more straightforward, including adding the ability to request applications for family members. Furthermore, we are committed to helping voters as they move through the often complex absentee process and have linked the website to the South Carolina Election Commission in order to allow voters to check their absentee ballot status at any point in the process. We want to encourage everyone to tell all of their Democratic friends, family members, and neighbors about this great website.
To this point, we also realize that the November election will bring in even more absentee requests than the primaries, both here in Charleston County and statewide. Therefore, we will need a lot of help from volunteers to help voters with their questions about the absentee process and to check in with voters at each stage. Similar to when we first rolled out Vote Blue SC, we will hold a virtual training session on Saturday, August 1 at 4 PM. Through this session, volunteers will learn about how to help others with registration and absentee voting and answer questions about Vote Blue. If you are interested, please click the button to RSVP below or see the event listed later in the newsletter. In addition to the voter registration and education initiatives we discussed last week and the amazing Democratic candidates and volunteers we have, Vote Blue SC will help us elect Democrats up and down the ballot this November!
