Vice President Mike Pence announced plans to do a bus tour across Florida next week. In response, Florida Democratic Party spokesperson Frances Swanson released the following statement:
“This is another stunning example of the Trump campaign’s disregard for public health. Once again, the Trump administration is looking to distract from its failed response to the COVID-19 pandemic as cases surge. Right now in Florida, unemployment is at a record high, the budget is in free fall, and many still aren’t getting the testing they need. Yet, Mike Pence thinks now is a good time to come to the Sunshine State to peddle Donald Trump’s failed leadership and broken promises. A bus tour in the middle of an ongoing pandemic worsened by Trump’s erratic and self-absorbed leadership is a backwards attempt at courting voters who won’t be so easily fooled.”
