FDP Chair Rizzo Congratulates Vice President Biden On Strong Endorsement from President Obama

Tallahassee, Fla. — The Florida Democratic Party congratulates Joe Biden, the presumptive Democratic nominee for president of the United States, for receiving the endorsement of former President Barack Obama. The Obama/Biden ticket won the state of Florida in 2008 and 2012.

Terrie Rizzo, chair of the Florida Democratic Party, released the following statement:

“President Barack Obama knows Vice President Joe Biden is the best candidate to heal our country. Together, President Obama and Vice President Biden worked to expand access to health care to millions of Americans and brought the country back from the Great Recession. As our nation grapples with an unprecedented health and economic crisis, Joe Biden is the best person to get our country back on its feet.”

In the endorsement video, Obama praised Biden stating “choosing Joe to be vice president was one of the best decisions I ever made.”

Obama went on to say: “This crisis has reminded us that government matters, good government matters, facts and science matter, rule of law matters, that having leaders who are informed and honest and seek to bring people together rather than drive them apart…those kinds of leaders matter…elections matter. Right now, we need Americans of good will to unite in a great awakening against a politics that too often has been characterized by corruption, carelessness, self-dealing, disinformation, ignorance and just plain meanness.”

Florida Democrats believe in effective and efficient government that prioritizes quality education, affordable health care, and an economy in which anyone who works hard can succeed.

Most importantly, we believe that we are stronger together. We believe the fundamental American promise — that you can go as far as your own hard work will take you — should shine brightest in Florida.

That is why we champion the middle class and cherish the principle that all Floridians should have the opportunity to work hard and succeed. That is why we will never stop fighting for better public schools, because education is the surest path to a better life for millions.

From standing for affordable health care and better schools to fighting for civil rights and access to the ballot box, Florida Democrats are leading every day to move our state forward.
