Receiving and providing support in times of crisis. The importance of mutual aid

2 mins read

We are living through an unprecedented time, and likely flooded with thoughts of how can I help, who can help me, and what’s going to happen next. It’s even more important that we unite as a community virtually. Several community leaders have stepped up to create a grassroots mutual aid group on Facebook, where members can make requests for support, offer assistance, and share vital resources and events. This is an excellent opportunity to come together and be there for one another.

Search on Facebook for COVID-19 South FL Mutual Aid or visit the link from your browser.

AID COALITION'

The coalition is actively working to aid with the sharing of food/resources with youth and adults experiencing homelessness and other critically underserved subpopulations. They are seeking funds and/or large food supplies to support individualized requests, as well as bigger requests from local food banks/programs that are running low on resources. If you can help, please email SouthFLMutualAid@gmail.com (or join the group)

A big THANK YOU to the countless number of local organizations that are supporting those who are struggling in our community, the tremendous workers who are keeping our food supply intact, and of course to the health workers who are on the front lines of this virus. Everyone can play a part, even if it’s just sharing vital information with a neighbor. So let’s stay connected.
