Imagine having face to face access to your U.S. Senator. No long speeches or tired sound bites. Just your U.S. Senator, you, and a couple hundred other concerned citizens.
That’s exactly what Oregon Senators Ron Wyden and Jeff Merkley gave to Oregonians January 2-3 by holding Town Hall meetings in 20 Oregon counties. (Volunteers from DemCast attended about 9.)
Oregon is no stranger to the urban/rural division of opinions. But these Town Hall meetings showed that Oregonians have more in common than not. Most of the questions represented topics that all Oregonians care about. Health care, prescription drug costs, student loans, climate change, and homelessness to name a few.
Senator Wyden held two Town Halls a day including stops in Clatsop, Columbia, Marion, Lane, Benton, Polk, Washington, Multnomah counties.
