Recess Call to Action

4 mins read

Now that Election Day 2019 is (almost) over, what’s next? We’ve got plenty of actions to keep you busy! Check out these Congressional Recess events, and keep the pressure on elected officials!

  1. Nobody Above the Law Mass Mobilization (
There are 216 events in 40 states and Washington DC for the Nobody Is Above the Law rapid response mobilization the evening before the House Impeachment vote –
  2. Recess events next week:
There are events being planned for recess (now through November 11), in part to ask #OneSimpleQuestion to Republicans – whether they believe the President should be able to pressure a foreign government to interfere in our elections (here’s an example of Rep. Katko running away from a constituent).
  3. Bird-dogging in DC:
Are you ready to turn up the pressure on House Republicans? We need volunteers to join us on Capitol Hill this week and next week to push members to answer this simple question: Is it okay for a president to pressure foreign governments to interfere in our elections?

While this seemingly straightforward question is often met with blank stares and darts to the nearest elevator, we need you to help us ask every member of the Republican caucus where they stand on this issue.
Wednesday, November 6th at 1 pm in the Hart Atrium
Thursday, November 7th at 10 am in the Hart Atrium

Wednesday, November 13, 9:30- 4:30 pm Meet in Longworth Cafeteria
Thursday, November 14, 9:30- 1:30 Meet in Longworth Cafeteria
Friday, November 15, 10:30- 2:30 Meet in Longworth Cafeteria

We hope to see you on the Hill!
  4. Remove 45 mobilization
There is the mobilization in DC beginning tomorrow with events through Nov. 11.
Nonviolent convergence at the White House every day from Nov 2-11 at noon & 6pm.

Senate Republicans are holding a strategy retreat at — where else? —the Trump Hotel. We’re going to pay a visit and let them know, loud and clear, how we feel about them continuing to defend the indefensible and protect Donald Trump.
Meet at the White House (16th & H) at 6pm and we’ll march to the Trump Hotel. Bring pots, pans, whistles, drums — and earplugs! — for a raucous noise protest.

We will march for Trump’s removal on Friday, November 8, the anniversary of the election that put him in the White House. Gather on the southeast side of the US Capitol at 11am, where we will join the #FireDrillFriday rally before marching to the White House.

This will be the largest action of the week – if you can join us for just one day, come and march with us! Bring signs, whistles, banners, musical instruments, and most of all, bring your people!
  5. National day of action to call for Election Security
On Wednesday, November 13th, join activists across the country as we gather outside of Senate offices to urge our Senators to pass $600 million in election security funding and to include accountability language to ensure the money is well-spent.
