Write Letters with Us Sept 5 & 17
Together, we can help get out the vote in critical states and districts. We’re meeting TWICE in September to write Vote Forward letters to voters: Thursday, September 5 and Tuesday, September 17. RSVP here.
Since March, 54 people have joined our letter effort at least once!
Join us for one or both of these dates:
- Thursday, September 5th, 6:00-8:00 pm at the Nile,1162 E. 55th St. If weather permits, we’ll sit outside on the pleasant back patio. IC-SS will order some appetizers for the table, and we ask people to purchase their own food and drink to support the venue. The Nile is BYOB, so feel to bring wine or beer to share.
- Tuesday, September 17th, 6:00-8:00 pm at a private venue in Hyde Park (get the address when you register). IC-SS will provide pizza and soft drinks. Feel free to bring along wine or beer, a side dish, or a sweet treat to share.
At each party, letter leader Steve Kagan brings letter printouts, envelopes, and pens for you. If you can, bring stamps to donate. If you’re writing letters from home, you are welcome to bring along your own letters to work on. RSVP here
Having trouble with the automatic RSVP? Instead, you can just send an email to Indiv.Chi.South@gmail.com, say that you’ll attend the letter party on Sept. 5 and/or 17. Please provide your full name and cell number.
Write at Home from Now to October
We encourage you to sign up with Vote Forward, so you can print, write, and mail your own letters from home. Create a free account with Vote Forward, choose a state or states, and then print and write the number of letters that fit in your schedule this summer and early fall.
IMPORTANT: If you are writing letters at home, remember to hold onto the envelopes until October. Mail them in October!

Whether you choose to canvass in Michigan or Wisconsin, Indivisible Chicago picks locations less than two hours away. Friendly organizers provide all the info and prep you’ll need and help arrange carpools for anyone needing a ride. And you get a canvass buddy if you wish!

Get on Zoom & Text or Phone Voters
From home, get on Zoom with citywide Indivisible Chicago and contact Michigan and Wisconsin voters by phone or by text.
Volunteers on Zoom with friendly trainers to text or phone voters
For phone banks or text banks, you get all the training and support you need from clear and encouraging organizers, who stand by on Zoom the entire session. You’ll make a difference and feel good about it!

Contrary to Trump’s protestations, Project 2025 has not met its “demise.” Project 2025 remains the far-right Heritage Foundation’s 920-page plan to turn the United States into a christo-fascist state.

Tell Congress: Ceasefire & Fund UNRWA
UNRWA USA “lifts up the voices, experiences, and humanity of Palestine refugees to secure American support for resources essential to every human being, for the promise of a better life.”
UNRWA-USA is an “independent 501c3 nonprofit that supports the work of UNRWA [the non-political humanitarian UN agency] through fundraising, education, and advocacy in the United States.” (See FAQ page.)
Per updated information from Human Rights Watch, the United States is the sole government still continuing the cutoff in aid to UNRWA. In Illinois, US RepresentativesDanny Davis, Jesus “Chuy” Garcia, Delia Ramirez, and Jan Schakowsky have joined in advocating for a restoration of funding.
ACT: Use your voice to advocate for a restoration of funding to UNRWA and to demand a ceasefire. Take these actions from UNRWA-USA.
Tomorrow: Hearing on Pretextual Traffic Stops
From the Community Commission for Public Safety and Accountability (CCPSA): Join the special hearing on Pretextual Traffic Stops on Tuesday, August 27th, 6:30PM in person at the DuSable Museum – 740 E 56th St.
The purpose of this hearing is to examine the impact of pretextual traffic stops on community and public safety. This hearing will feature presentations from experts, including academics and practitioners, who have implemented and studied reforms to pretextual traffic stops policies nationwide.
The Commission will ask questions and explore solutions for Chicago by learning from the experiences and approaches of other jurisdictions.
