This Thursday! Write to Voters at the Nile
Together, we can help get out the vote in critical states and districts. This Thursday, join our work writing Vote Forward letters to voters. Can you write with us Thurs., Aug. 15, 6:00-8:00 pm at the Nile, 1162 E. 55th St.? RSVP here (or email Indiv.Chi.South@gmail.com).

If weather permits, we’ll sit outside on the pleasant back patio. IC-SS orders some nibbles for the table, and we ask people to purchase their own food and drink to support the venue. The Nile is BYOB, so feel to bring wine or beer to share. RSVP here
Letter leader Steve Kagan (the man in the gray hat) brings letter printouts, envelopes, and pens for you. If you can, bring stamps to donate. If you’re writing letters from home, you are welcome to bring along your own letters to work on. RSVP here for Thurs, Aug 15.
SAVE THE DATES: Our next letter-writing dates will be Thursday, September 5th at the Nile and Tuesday, September 17th at a location TBA. More info coming next week!
Having trouble with the automatic RSVP? Instead, you can just send an email to Indiv.Chi.South@gmail.com, say that you’ll attend the letter party on Aug. 15. Please provide your full name and cell number.

Assist Two Asylum Seekers
Journalist and playwright Fran Zell has assisted new arrivals from Venezuela since migrants began being bused to Chicago. Fran has organized a GoFundMe for two young asylum seekers, Karen from Colombia and Renny from Venezuela, who fell prey to scammers who stole their money and also interfered with Karen’s immigration status. They have suffered further setbacks in spite of their strenuous efforts to earn a living.
If you would like to learn more about Karen and Renny’s story, please see the GoFundMe set up by Fran Zell.
