Its Time to Start Getting out the Vote!  Volunteer TODAY!

You might be thinking “its only July,” but the 2024 General Elections are exactly 4 months away!

Our Get Out The Vote (GOTV) plan calls for us to start contacting the most critical election-deciding voters NOW so we can make sure they know how important this election is and how many great Democrats we have up and down the ballot here in Charleston County.

From Congress to Coroner, there are 29 local races in Charleston County this year and almost all feature a Mainstream Democrat vs. an Extreme Republican.  And, this year’s local election’s can have a bit impact:

  • We can elect a Democratic majority on County Council.
  • We can flip control of our county’s state legislative delegation.
  • We can ensure our county-wide offices are run by Democrats.
  • We can have Charleston represented by Democrats in Congress.

So, how can you help?  We are starting our first GOTV Phone Banks on July 8th!  We’ll have 4 per week at our office all the way through the November 5th election:

  • Monday, Wednesday, Friday 2-4pm
  • Saturdays 10am-1pm

Please sign up for your shift(s) here or click below!
*These calls can be done virtually, but we ask that folks do their first shift (or two) in-person so we can train you up, help you work through any technical issues, and fully understand our plan & strategy.

We’ll have more opportunities for different types of engagement (like door knocking and event support) in the coming weeks and months, but live voter contact is critical to our success, so the most helpful thing you can do, right now, for local Democrats is help us start making these calls!

In Case You Missed It, June 11 Primary Recap!

This past month saw the primaries & runoffs for state and local offices.  We are grateful for all those who ran and appreciate their hard work and sacrifice for our party’s cause.  The full Democratic slate is now set and we look forward to electing each of our great Democratic nominees this fall!

Here are a few of the notable results from the competitive races, in case you missed them:

–  In the 1st Congressional District, both candidates ran very strong races as evidenced by Michael Moore narrowly defeating Mac Deford by a 3% margin.  Michael is a pragmatic businessman who will work for results, instead of fighting for airtime on cable news, and we are excited to have him as our nominee!

–  Rita Adkins didn’t have a primary in Senate District 41, but the Republicans chose to nominate Matt Leber, who has multiple arrests for domestic violence issues, and who has encouraged political violence.  That district is light red, but we can win especially given Leber’s deep and dangerous flaws, and Rita’s exceptional strengths!

–  Charlie Murray won our State House District 116 primary and joins John Moffett (House District 110) as mainstream local Democrats who are taking on Republicans that are simply too conservative for their very-winnable swing districts.

–  Sheriff Kristin Graziano will seek to remain the state’s only female sheriff against a GOP candidate with the backing of her 8-term predecessor.  It was an incredible step forward for Charleston County when the old school sheriff was finally defeated… lets not let him bring his pals back into power.
