Trump’s Dictatorship Wishlist From TIME Interview: Decoded With AI

Decoding Trump's Dictatorship Wish With AI

“Trump’s disturbing Time interview shows he has no idea abortion is a ticking time bomb for the GOP”

“When asked if states should monitor women’s pregnancies so they can know if they’ve gotten an abortion after the ban, Trump replied: “I think they might do that. Again, you’ll have to speak to the individual states.” In other words, he’s fine with whatever medieval torture a state might want to inflict.” — Salon

Read the Time interview transcript. We used the AI-based SayWhen app to analyze a CNN video interview with Massimo Calabresi, Washington Bureau Chief For Time Magazine. The app first prepares a transcript and then lets you search the video (or podcast) by any word.

“The Time interview comes on the heels of a flurry of belated reports … Project 2025 and Agenda 47  pulled together by the MAGA establishment, including the Heritage Foundation and the Club for Growth… But the election is just six months away now and it is long past time that Trump is confronted with what we’ve been hearing. This interview makes it clear that the candidate is on board with all of it and even has some extreme ideas of his own to add to the list.” — Salon (excerpts)

We also shouldn’t assume that, should the GOP win back the Senate, it won’t change or limit the filibuster rule—just as Republicans did when they lowered the threshold to a bare majority to approve Supreme Court justices.

A national abortion ban would be a very high priority in a government controlled in all branches by a Trumpified GOP. And make no mistake, Trump almost certainly would sign it. — The Status Kuo

Using political violence to overturn election results

Equivalent of his “stand back and stand by” statement, made to the Proud Boys on national television during the 2020 debates. Trump’s words today will be seen by his most radicalized followers as a signal to prepare for violence. This means that if and when Trump loses, he will nearly certainly claim it was unfair—even wildly unfair. And that in his mind will justify political violence, just as we saw on January 6. — The Status Kuo

Stripping Americans of their freedoms

Trump and the MAGA establishment have laid out a vivid plan for a revolutionary imperial presidency. He’s said before that the Constitution can be suspended and repeatedly insisted when he was president that he had “an Article II” that gave him unlimited power. Now he’s got the Supreme Court contemplating giving him immunity from prosecution for any of his crimes. — Salon

Mass deportations

This then would require mass enforcement against entire communities, along with abusive racial profiling and regular demands upon even legal residents to show their papers and prove they are not “illegals.” Trump claimed he would use “local law enforcement” (i.e., deputizing local police and turning them into federal immigration enforcers). — The Status Kuo

Political violence to steal power

Voters need to be presented with the stark choice between our long tradition of peaceful transitions of power on the one hand, and chaotic, violent ones becoming the norm on the other. Most voters today, thankfully, will choose the former. They will reject candidates who espouse or condone political violence for any reason. Trump has now wedged the door open to place the future of our democracy at risk, just as he has with abortion rights and migrant rights. The Status Kuo
