“The grassroots, the Resistance, the pro-democracy faction—whatever you want to call us—are far more powerful than most realize. We are the difference in close elections. We are seasoned. We are strong. We are organized. We are smart. We are showing up in bigger and bigger numbers.” — Jessica Craven, Chop Wood, Carry Water
North Carolina
- Call for NC. The Mecklenburg County Democratic party continues to engage voters. These are easy calls to strong Democrats to engage volunteers and voters in the Charlotte/Mecklenburg area! NC Dems need our help to expand the volunteer base, develop skilled campaigners, and test new strategies for the critical 2024 elections.SIGN UP HERE and join us for PowerHour on Sunday, April 21.
This is a working event, so if you have never phone banked or do not have an account with OpenVPB, get in touch with us at leanleftcvt@gmail.com and we’ll get you set up.
Pennsylvania
- Ready for a challenge? The Pennsylvania Inactive Voter Project has a list of over 200,000 voters who could be thrown off the voter rolls because they haven’t voted in past elections or they have moved and not updated their registration. This project has the potential of re-engaging voters, providing them with information about how to re-register and get a mail-in ballot. You need to feel comfortable with technology and be on Slack, a cloud-based communication tool. If interested, contact us at leanleftcvt@gmail.com.
Other Actions You Can Pick Up on Your Own
- Make Calls with the Environmental Voter Project on Earth Day: On Tuesday, April 23 at 12:00 to 1:30 PM EDT, EVP will be getting out the vote for PA’s presidential primary. Since 2015 EVP has contacted 9.5 million non-voting and seldom-voting environmentalists and helped convert almost 1.5 million of them into “super voters.” EVP will provide training. SIGN UP HERE.
- Encourage Democratic-leaning voters in New Hampshire to turn out in the 2024 general election. This letter-writing campaign seeks to increase voter turnout among people who are unlikely to vote but likely to vote for Democrats when they do cast a ballot. You’ll supply the paper, envelopes, and stamps; Vote Forward provides the addresses and messaging. Sign up directly with VoteForward, following the guidelines here (if you are new to Vote Forward, mention that you volunteer with Lean Left Vermont so they’ll fast-track your account).

The States Project in New Hampshire
“Voters in New Hampshire and Mississippi face the highest personal cost in the country in terms of the time and effort required to cast a ballot, according to a new academic study.”
— The New York Times, “The ‘Cost’ of Voting in America: A Look at Where It’s Easiest and Hardest”
NH is 50th in the state rankings (below Mississippi) of where it is easiest to vote. Add Gov. Sununu’s recent endorsement of Trump, and you can see why flipping NH’s legislature, electing a Democratic governor, and securing the open U.S. House seat is critical.
We are raising funding for The States Project’s work in NH. This incredibly effective group is mounting strategies that work. A “Door Knocking Challenge” provides candidates with an incentive to spend the majority of their time talking and meeting with voters. Face-to-face contact is a game-changer. Four Challenge participants in 2022 won their seats by less than 326 votes!
Our goal is $10,000 — we’re halfway there!
