Stop The Coup 2025, Center for Popular Democracy, Human Rights Campaign, Rise and Resist launched a year-long campaign of action against Project 2025 on January 27th at the Heritage Foundation, one of the key right-wing funders of the plan.
They recorded videos of the rally and talks by the organizers. This blog explains how they converted the raw video footage into short 27 second TikTok videos in both English and Spanish. These rapid response videos helps the organizers raise awareness about Project 2025 and how to resist the Republican scheme to dismantle our democracy.
Designing a TikTok video
The raw video footage of the rally was edited to extract a 27 second clip with the free iMovie app.
This video was overlaid with images to emphasize key points and a call to action at the end.
The iMovie generated video was captioned and also translated into Spanish with AI apps.
These English and Spanish videos were uploaded to YouTube, TikTok, Instagram and other social media platforms.

Format your video for TikTok
Clip the video so it is properly formatted for TikTok. TikTok videos appear best in a vertical format at 9:16 ratio.
Open with a bang
We used an image of Sasha Baron Cohen from the movie Dictator to open the video as the sound track from the rally plays in the back ground. This is to increase the open rate.
Have a clear call to action
The video has a clear link and QR Code for viewers to learn more about the Republican scheme to dismantle democracy and how they can support STOP THE COUP 2025.
