Free VIP Football tickets! How billionaires have rigged the game through the Supreme Court

How is it that billionaires always win, and you always lose when it comes to the MAGA packed Supreme Court?
In football it is called ‘working the refs‘. In real life it is billionaires packing the Supreme Court with right wing extremists and then pandering them with free VIP football tickets, luxury vacations and more to get the rulings they want.
Just like ‘football set plays‘, billionaires also have set plays. Use this BILLIONAIRES RIGGING THE GAME GUIDE to understand three big plays that result in the MAGA Supreme Court:
Banning abortion
Allowing more pollution
Evicting the poor

MAGA Republican pack the courts
While Republicans lately have been attacking Democrats for plotting to “pack” the federal courts with like-minded judges, their party has been doing it for years. Through bare-knuckle tactics in the Senate, an animated base of voters and an institutionalized and well-funded pipeline for judges, Republicans have stocked the federal bench at all levels with conservatives who share the right’s support for whacking at the wall between church and state and at the powers of federal regulatory agencies, banning abortion and expanding gun rights.
Republicans’ ruthless success in the judicial wars is most evident on the highest court in the land. As the Supreme Court with its new 6-3 conservative majority ends its term this month, the question for court-watchers isn’t whether it will rule in a conservative way. It’s how far-reaching will those rulings be. – TIME

Ban Abortions
The Robert’s Supreme Court officially reversed Roe v. Wade, declaring that the constitutional right to abortion, upheld for nearly a half century, no longer exists. – NPR
- Justice Samuel Alito said that the 1973 Roe ruling and repeated subsequent high court decisions reaffirming Roe “must be overruled” …
- Abortion rights will be rolled back in nearly half of the states immediately, with more restrictions likely to follow. For all practical purposes, abortion will not be available in large swaths of the country.
- Joining the Alito opinion were Justice Clarence Thomas, appointed by the first President Bush, and the three Trump appointees — Justices Neil Gorsuch, Brett Kavanaugh and Amy Coney Barrett and Chief Justice John Roberts.

Evict the poor
“Thomas Helped Kill Eviction Ban Threatening Benefactor’s Business. Harlan Crow’s company said tenant protections threatened its profits. Thomas twice voted to end them while Crow lavished him with gifts. – Lever News
The Supreme Court struck down moratorium on evictions. In August 2021, Thomas was one of the six justices who voted to strike down a federal administrative moratorium on evictions, originally enacted in September 2020 by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to halt the spread of COVID-19. In July, between the two rulings, Crow Holdings — which owns apartment buildings, student housing, and manufactured housing nationwide — was cited in congressional testimony for being one of the country’s most frequent eviction filers, despite the moratorium.”
Bllomberg reported, Thomas did not appear to recuse himself in a 2005 Supreme Court case involving Trammell Crow Residential, in which Crow Holdings owned a minority stake. In the coming months, the rent control issue flagged by Crow Holdings could be before Thomas and the high court. A group of New York landlords are preparing to petition the Supreme Court to overturn the city’s rent stabilization laws after losing a recent case. Such a ruling could endanger rent-control laws nationwide. – Lever News

Allow more pollution
“Hard on the heels of snatching away fundamental liberties, the right-wing activist court just curtailed vital climate action,”Jason Rylander, an attorney at the Center for Biological Diversity’s Climate Law Institute. “It’s a bad decision and an unnecessary one, but the EPA can still limit greenhouse gases at the source under Section 111 and more broadly through other Clean Air Act provisions. In the wake of this ruling, EPA must use its remaining authority to the fullest.” – Engadget
Take Away: Demand a fair game with neutral refs that rule fairly. Vote for President Biden and Democrats for courts and a justice system that you can trust.
