For nearly fifty years, Roe v. Wade was the law of the land, protecting reproductive rights. Despite years of support for the right to choose, the conservative U.S. Supreme Court has recently overturned this long standing precedent, raising concerns. This action has emboldened extreme Republicans to introduce legislation criminalizing abortion and banning contraception. Women across the nation are now facing life-threatening conditions as they are denied the healthcare they need. The critical question is: What is the healthcare future that women can expect under Republicans? The answer is clear; Republicans are signaling their intent to restrict more women’s healthcare rights and enact an abortion ban as the law of the land. Let’s work to deny them that chance. Democrats stand by the belief that personal healthcare decisions should be made by a woman, her family, and her medical team. As Democrats, we must commit to advocating for women’s healthcare rights and continue the fight for reproductive freedom in this country while maintaining these rights in our states. It’s crucial to vote in every election in 2024. From this moment on, what happens is up to us!
